This won't make us rich but will give everyone a bit of craic Smile

Any prize money from the dog goes to the 2012 YBIG Charities?

decent dog will range from €1500 - €2000. Registration fees might be roughly €100 in total.

Weekly expense (to keep the dog in training) will be no more than €60-€75.

A dog for €2000 would require 50 members paying €40 and then €1.50 a week.

Would expect it to win 5-6 races @ €200 a pop so charity could make over €1000 whilst all on board have a great craic on race night Thumbs Up

Gonna get a list going for this one folks

Roughly 50 forum members needed & the YBIG accountant will take care of finances.

All prize money goes to the YBIG 2012 Charities Thumbs Up

At most, this will cost €30-€40 up front and then about €1.50 per week.

You'd be better off just getting 40/50 lads giving the €50 to charity imo

It's quite hard to make money off owning a few dogs never mind just the one

Defo interested Thumbs Up

Have had a few dogs in the past. One of our Winetavern dogs won some nice races for me around Harolds Cross and then Dundalk.

I paid 220 per month for training costs.

Note: It really is luck of the draw. I paid 1500 for a pup a few years ago. Had top notch breeding and it never even made it to the track. Paid 400 for another in Mullingar Sales and it Paid for itself for 1 year racing.

I'm with Bhob on this one. My family has spent decades in the greyhound industry and there is just too much luck involved. Don't get me wrong its a great night out and even though we don't have direct involvement in the industry anymore, I still enjoy heading a few times a year. But would rather see the money go direct to the charities than chance it. Only way to guarantee a return and have something to give is by not gambling it on chancing a racer.
