Talk about a joke gone bad.....Manuel was a hero though
Television and radio presenters Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand have been suspended by the BBC, after complaints about prank calls made by the pair.
According to the BBC website, all of Ross' and Brand's shows have been "taken off air until the BBC has investigated their prank calls made on Radio 2". Director General of the BBC Mark Thompson made an announcement about the suspensions in a statement today. Advertisement The BBC has reportedly received more than 18,000 calls to date, after Brand and Ross made prank calls to 'Fawlty Towers' star Andrew Sachs. During the calls, which were broadcast on BBC Radio 2 as part of a pre-recorded show, Ross revealed that Brand had slept with Sachs' granddaughter Georgina Baillie. Earlier 23-year-old Baillie had called for Ross and Brand to be sacked by the BBC. In a statement about the matter, BBC Director General Mark Thompson said: "I would like to add my own personal and unreserved apology to Andrew Sachs, his family and to licence fee payers for the completely unacceptable broadcast on BBC Radio 2." "It is clear from the views expressed by the public that this broadcast has caused severe offence and I share that view." "I have decided that it is not appropriate for either Russell Brand or Jonathan Ross to continue broadcasting on the BBC until I have seen the full report of the actions of all concerned." |

I've not much sympathy for them but I'll wager the vast majority of those complaints only did so after going on youtube to hear it. It's turned into a bit of a lynching, the old British public love its old stars, especially one so loved as Manuel........but as I say I've not alot sympathy for that pair of dickheads, especially Brand, he's a fookin bellend.

In fairness Manuel didnt give a rats so no big issue! Was a stupid thing to do alright as the chap is in his 70's, just leave him alone.

Ross is now sh*tting himself, because although that utter cock Brand
thrives on this kind of publicity, Ross very much sees himself as
the King of British light Entertainment, and as some kind of comedy confidante to the
stars. This could really harm him. (He seems to know this too, as according to the BBC news website, he has made a personal visit to Sachs, bearing flowers and a handwritten letter of apology, unlike Brand, who has done f*ck all except be a tall gangly cock, cocking around like the enormous talentless cock that he is.)
Ross' tv Show Friday (due to be recorded tonight, featuring Frank Skinner, Miley Cyrus and (friend of Andrew Sachs) Sir David Attenborough) has been cancelled. I reckon he's genuinely worried. |
