Anyone been watching the 'other' darts championship?

Its a bit SPL, compared to EPL, but i still enjoy it!

Big Ted Hankey, a hateful big **** of a man, 5-3 up and cruising against young Christian Kist today, ended up losing 6-5, when he knew the game was gone in the final set he starts blaming a breeze blowing across stage, blaming the crowd, and throwing his darts aimlessly. Then afterwards says thats him finished with the BDO, anyone know why this was??

i think the arena at the lakeside is far better for darts, there is very rarely shouting and singing when players are throwing, its a better atmosphere for darts. Half the time in the sky darts the fans seem that they arent even watching it and are singing football songs!
of course money talks though and Sky aren't going to change their product now

Hadn't been watching this up until yesterday's SF. It made for great television when Kist made that fantastic comeback against Hankey.

It's also great to see it on terrestial television.  Even if the earlier rounds didn't appeal to aficionados, the standards yesterday was as good as any of the fare on offer from Sky's closet championship.
Minority sports (I always have to double check my self when I think about darts as a real sport) need as much exposure as possible.
Looking forward to the final today. Will have a little wager on Kist. He surely has the wind at his back after yesterdays heroics.

Watched every one of his match's until the SF y'day and he has been impressive for this level - think he usually averages around the 95/96 mark which is one of the best in the BDO. He could be another Klassen and win the tournament on debut but in the q/f he looked a bit shaky and O'Shea might just have the experience to get him though though will be hoping for a lipstick win as not a fan of O'Shea's

couple of intersting points in the paper today about the pdc and bdo, people always go on about the averages in the pdc are way higher well according to the paper the pdc dont count missed doubles in their averages while the bdo does, this knocks on average ten points off their average. the guy also claim the wire on the boards the bdo stick out a tiny bit more making for more bounce outs, if you watched any of the bbc darts you would see a fair few bounce outs. his final point was in the grand slam of darts when bdo players have played pdc players the bdo have won 35 and pdc 25, intersting points in fairness but he never mentioned anything about bdo plyers leaving for pdc
But fumble in a greasy till

And add the halfpence to the pence

And pray to shivering prayer, until

You have dried the marrow from the bone.

to be fair think most of them leave for the pdc because of the money that is on offer in the pdc. with the money sky pump into it they can afford to pay players more
