I know everyone is talking about the possible groups... but when are the meetings to discuss fixtures?

Surely we need our manager in place for this or we could end up playing the away trips on wednesday nights and ruin possible good away weekends if Don Delaney is involved.

Sir Bobby had a big input in the fixture meetings for the last campaign and in fairness it did work out well for the most part.

That is a very good point Percy.  Ray Wilkins made an interesting point about Italy on Sky yesterday, the Italians have left themselves with their final game against the Faroes.  In the qualification for WC1978, England beat Italy which meant Italy had one last game to win to qualify ahead of England. The oppo?  Luxembourg.  So we defo need someone with a bit of savvy in there and not have us arranging matches on a wing and a prayer.

I have a feeling we'll be left with the scraps when it comes to these fixtures... i.e we could end up playing in Norway on a saturday and then havin to travel to somewhere like greece on the following wednesday.. disaster written all over it. We need this to be sorted out.  Just heard that they want the manager installed by Xmas.. this could be too late as little side deals with countries usually start on the day of the draw.

lads i bet whoever is in the meeting will get us a great fixture list regardless , we have done well on these things in the past, its just our teams that havent done well on the park !

i think its decided by whoever is prepared to cause as much trouble in the meeting as possible , i rememebr the ukraine kicked up last year and got the fixtures they wanted after two meetings, not that it did them any good..

just checked listings and cant see them anywhere on any channel on sunday!!

Looks like they have the usual quality entertainment as per usual (music from the lion king etc), so will probably be on for about 10 hours before the draw is made!

i think they are the best draw we could get out of pot 1 (and maybe the czechs). Would be a massive game and you would be guaranteed that the players and fans would be up for it, would be an amazing atmosphere + I think a realistic chance of getting a win. (as opposed to any other of the first pot teams!)
