Eh. Just because Belgium will very likely get through the group stages doesn't make Martinez not a spoofer, he's probably the 2nd biggest spoofer in Management, the first being his predecessor, Wilmots.

Belgium have the calibre to be aiming for semi-finals, possibly better but with Martinez in charge? Quarters at best.

Come down out of the clouds like a good man, media darlings like Marco Silva get away with murder yet Martinez gets slated.

For what it’s worth i think Belgium will only make the last 8 because France, Spain, Germany, Brazil etc are better than them not because they’ve Martinez in charge.

Hence why I had them as something of a surprise package, as everyone on here is saying they'll not get near winning it with Martinez as manager.
Portugal won the last Euros with a manager who had only ever won a Greek cup and a Portuguese league with Porto before, in near 20 years of management.

Why did you think I was referring to you?

It was pretty obvious it was Coleman’s point I was getting at Tongue

There seems to be quite a liberal definition of what constitutes a 'big country' in terms of the World Cup. I took that as meaning any of the standard superpowers such as Germany, Spain, France, Brazil and Argentina. Maybe Portugal as they are reigning European champions.

Russia and Belgium are both stretching out that definition considerably!

What planet are you living on?! Because it's definitely not Earth! LOL

Which media sings his name? He's been found out as a lazy piece of sh*t and a mercenary. Which makes it more baffling why Everton still wanted him after the truth was uncovered

Aside from the FA Cup run which ended up beating City in the final, Martinez has made a living from taking credit from all his predecessors, he's even doing it now, attempting to out-spoof Wilmots but thats nearly impossible.

Silva gets linked with countless jobs in England and is adored by the media, he is the flavour of the month (so to be speak the past year) and a quick google search would back that up.

No competitive defeat since he took over and one defeat in a friendly vs Spain!

Not bad for the ultimate spoofer no matter what superstars he has in his squad!

People are oddly judging a man who’s record is near perfect since he took over and dismissing it LOL

Winners - France
Runners Up - Spain

Top Scorer - Giroud/Suarez/Lukaku

Player of Tournament - Isco

Surprise Package - Uruguay

Big nation to flop - Poland. (A push calling them a big nation in football terms). In terms of land mass I fully expect Russia to flop quicker than an aul lads flute after the last of the Viagra leaves his system

Having watched their two play off matches on Aussie TV, they regard their current team and squad as we regard ours ; the worst they've ever had.

Also surprised how many are picking Peru as their surprise package, but they certainly were that in 1978.

Croatia must be sick to death of being given the 'dark horses' title at this stage

I don't think there's anyone on this forum who would mind that particular malady. Alas we are categorised as 'cart horses' in equestrian parlance..

I do find prediction threads tedious when it cones to who will win. Everyone's gonna pick the usual favourites obviously.

A more interesting prediction would be who'll be the surprise team of the tournament. Costa Rica in Brazil 2014 (conditions definitely played a part imo) was sensational, Hungary winning their group in France 2016 was as much an upset as Portugal beating France to win it.

Will the top South American teams struggle in Russia? Probably not that much when a lot of their players are based in Europe.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Falcao for top scorer.

Portugal will be found out as the biggest disappointment.

Depends who you define as top South American.

Brazil simply have the squad who's superior than anyone else. The amount of depth in midfield is actually insane. Brazil are only in trouble if both Neymar and Jesus are injured, if 1 of them they have more than enough flexibility to swap people positionally.

Uruguay and Colombia should be getting out of their groups easily and onto the latter stages.

Argentina is the bigger worry, anyone who watched the South American qualifiers are fully aware.

There's only 2 people who have predicted we'll have anyone outside Germany, Spain, Brazil, France in the final (both Argentina). I think these teams are a step ahead of the rest (bar France who I still don't full trust not to feck it up). So really with dark horses, we're looking to see who can get to a SF ahead of those 4.
