The more you see of the people who run WHU, the more you appreciate what scum they are. Over Payet, they've said the following:
West Ham have accused Dimitri Payet of showing a lack of "commitment and respect" after the France international rejoined Marseille for £25m. The Hammers insist they did not need to sell Payet and joint-chairman David Sullivan said he wanted the player to stay to "make an example" of him. But Sullivan added that manager Slaven Bilic approved the sale in "the interests of squad unity". Simple fact is, the squalid collection of porn barons who own and run WHU will have been delighted to have bought Payet for £10m then sell him for £25m a year and a half later, so all this talk of "making him stay" was always utter garbage. And shifting the "blame" for his sale to Bilic is just another part of the process. So for all that Payet is acting the maggot (and he obviously is), it should not let that lot off the hook. From the ever reliable "Popbitch" gossip column.....
">> Payet back << Dmitri Payet's transfer back to Marseille this month broke most footballer rules. He happily took a paycut, he gave 500K salary back to West Ham and - despite his pretty stellar Euro 2016 stint - elected to take a bit of a backward career step. So why was he so keen? Well,it seems Dmitri had been enjoying the adulation of one West Ham fan a little too much. Mrs Payet found out and hopped it back to France. Leaving Dmitri little option but to follow." |

And was he equally "happy" to "give back" the £500k to WHU, or was he contractually obliged? (I wouldn't be in the least bit fooled by Sullivan's claim that he faced him down over this, since Sullivan has to justify how/why he accepted £25m for a player he originally valued at £50m+). And as for moving from WHU to Olympique Marseille being a "backward step" - this is a club which is the best supported in France in their 67k capacity stadium; which has been French Champions 10 x times and French Cup winners the same number of times; which is the only French club to win the Champions League, and which is in the top 20 European clubs in terms of revenue. Meanwhile, when Mrs. P left for France again, poor old Dimitri always had one option other than join her: "Au revoir, ma cherie... " Apart from that, great commentary...
