Shelbyville v Italy

Ever notice the nordie pundits and journalists never criticise their own team or performances?

They're playing  well. Fancy them to get something. Italy been poor

In general.  Like they dont have any Dunphy or Brady types constantly criticising.  Their commentators are very positive as well.  No Houghton or Whelan negativity.

They judge their team on a different basis to us. They expect constant failure, so poor results are just accepted and any success is lauded. With that attitude you can never lose I suppose.

Bit of a generalisation there, no?

I wouldn't like to speak about "them" (as a collective) and I'm one of them myself!

Speaking for myself, all I ask is that regardless of results, the manager has the team organised and the players give their all.

I suspect that that attitude is reasonably widely held amongst the support, but as I've constantly tried to reflect, we aren't a homegeneous group, different fans often see the same game differently.

One thing I will say, mind, was that last night at least, the GAWA was solidly behind the team and everyone went away happy.

Onwards and Upwards! Thumbs Up

Speaking to a couple of Italians after the game, they couldn't believe we were trying so hard in a game which meant nothing to us in the wider scheme of things.

I just said that we were playing for ourselves and our own pride and self-respect.

I'll hand it to them. They create a decent atmosphere. They have a broader songbook; they're like Pearl Jam, we're like Roger Waters.

A whopping 68% wouldn't change the anthem. How inclusive.

The comments under this article on the Facebook are very grim but unsurprising. Summary - get those Taigs to move South.
