They judge their team on a different basis to us. They expect constant failure, so poor results are just accepted and any success is lauded. With that attitude you can never lose I suppose.

You could argue that most of the negativity of the casual fan/general public has stemmed from the negativity pushed by Dunphy, Brady and Giles to a lesser extent. The more negativity they pushed, the more their popularity soared. Even if the negativity was/is over-exaggerated at times.
