The English FA has issued a guarantee that all proceeds from the Wembley sale will be used to fund grassroots football.

Lets hope they a true to their word.

The Meath Bulldogs have offered the FAI 500 euro for their share of the Aviva Stadium.  The FAI gladly accepted.

The FA are selling the family silverware and yet barely a whimper from football fans in England. Just goes to show how much the premier league has damaged the game in England. Could you imagine the uproar if the GAA announced it was selling Croker. There'd be hell to pay.

Would it not be becuase a lot of people aren't fans of the "New Wembley" ?

I've always felt they should have just done what the Germans did with the Olympicstadion in Berlin and just refurbished Wembley rather than building a new one.

An absolutely fine specimen of a stadium.
Gotta hand it to the Germans.

Very strange decision to sell the stadium? Surprised the government hasn't stepped in on historical and cultural grounds - I presume it's been sold at a loss and that public money was used to pay for some of it?

I believe the FA didn't own the old stadium, so don't see the big deal in selling it.

Strange posts in this thread.

£900 million and the FA keep the Club Wembley revenues, all cup finals to play there and England will still play there except the friendly/qualifier dates in August/September rent free.

I dare say the FA will be pissing their pants at this, dare say been on a massive piss up since it was announced.

Great deal for the FA.
Great deal for England fans as the venue will have to be somewhere else in August/September.
And Wembley will hardly be used anyways as Jaguars have got a long-term on to play games at Spurs' new stadium.

Jaguars trying to create a brand as 'The NFL team in England' is all it is.

Jaguars don't have a deal with Spurs the NFL do. Jags have a deal to play in London

It's Sep - Dec I'm pretty sure, ie regular NFL season.

It's Kahn trying to move his team to London, 8-11 games per season, not just the one or two.

Do the new owners have naming rights to the stadium?

I can’t imagine it would go down well with fans going to the JP Morgan dome!
