I dont know could be alright. Go through a lot of managers down there. Between himself and Newell there some experience there. Doubt he will be as sour as Sheridan either. Id be happy enough with that id say if i was a Waterford fan.

Newell and Sheedy crossed over in the 80s at Everton and then in Saudi together of late.

Sheedy, a legend of a player but a manager? Whilst i have little to base this on given his lack of senior management experience, i am going on a hunch. Fairly Stan like.

Yes but Waterford isnt like managing Ireland. He has a little more wriggle room. Both of them played at the highest level so they have plently of ideas im sure. Have to wait and see. Probably wont last that long either way. Cant see Sheedy staying here for 5 or 6 years. Presumably his family will be back in the UK. Im just presuming on that one.

5 or 6 weeks at Waterford would be an acceptable achievement

There has been a lot of criticism of Lee Power in Waterford the past year.  One of the major criticisms is that he has lost all interest in the club and is just waiting to get rid of it if he can get his money back which being a LOI club, is never going to happen.  Then he pulled this rabbit out of the hat which would on the surface look as if the man is serious.

Mike Newell played in the Champions League with Blackburn. Not many players/managers in the LOI who've played in the CL. I doubt there's even 5 to have done that TBH.

Newell held the record for the fastest ever hat-trick in the CL until recently.

He played a few games towards end of last season after being injured for a while. He didn't seem fully match fit to be honest and missed a few chances but hopefully with a rest and pre season he will be able to be make an impact next season.

Very unlucky for the Waterford team not to be allowed to play in the Uefa youth league.

Totatlly understand the rationale why they are not taking part but do think some consideration and allowance could have been made to let these young players train, travel and play in an elite competition.

Thought he was injured?

EDIT - Just read his statement, he was left out of the squad, according to himself.
