Well fair play to the Welsh, we go to Slovakia and Prague with a tad more spring in our step.  It was by no means backs to the wall stuff from the Welsh, they took the game to the Czechs, especially 2nd half.  Koumas rattled the post with a free, Giggs nearly scored an amazing goal in a tremendous farewell performance and on the balance of play a win would not have flattered Wales.  Czechs a major disappointment and I said it before, they look as vulnerable as they have in recent years, while acknowledging they'll be a different animal in Prague and us going there without Duffer.

The first game in Sept is now key for us, I think we need to beat the Slovaks and go to Prague with our tails up.  Bring it on!

yeah thought the welsh were unlucky not to get the 3 points. still a really good result for us and really puts it back in our own hands now. Good trip to bratislava and prague puts us right back in it. Quality free kick from Koumas, would have been a rasper

if we go unbeaten in september we are in with a massive chance , even three points from the two games would be something and then turn the germans over in croker. the czechs havent been to cyprus yet , wonder if thy could come unstuck out there like the germans eh and a few other teams.......

slovakia seem to be missing a few of their regulars for tomorrow nights game against Germany. Cant really see them nicking anything out of it. Would be great if they got a sneaky point

i cant agree count, we need the slovaks out of the race ASAP , not only do we want them down and out by the time we get there in september , they are also our rivals for the third seeding in the world cup seedings so we need them to stop picking up points, let the germans run away with the group until they meet us in october, germans to pump the slovaks and the czechs for me

i was thinking the same as you Roger but I think we've a much better chance playing for 2 spots instead of just second place. no game is going to be an easy game for us now regardless if teams are out of it. Wales game will still be a big game in Cardiff as it a local derby. Cyprus will be out to do the double on us regardless if they are out of it aswell. Slovakia will want revenge. I hope Germany dont walk away with it as it will narrow our chances.

My thinking woulda been for the Germans to run away with it, but I suppose if they get a bit cocky, it could become a 3 horse race again and in fairness there are still alot of points to play for.  Slovaks were poor in Croker, can't really see them getting a point tomorrow.  Cardiff could resemble a Windsor Park 1993 job, without the bile of Bingham and others.  Same date as well, 17th November.  One game at a time sweet Jesus.

Very true Roger, permutations as always.  Me mate sent me an Excel that updates with each result so I did a quick test with how I expect results to go (erring on the optimistic side with our results, ie draw in Prague, win v Slovak, draw v Germany, win v Cyp, win v Wales.  The final tally would tie us and the Czechs on points with Germany well clear.  Is it Goal Diff or head to head for a tie?

We can get something off the Czechs in September but i dont think a point will be enough cause thats all we will get off the slovaks i reckon.
2 draws is f**k all use to us in september.
wales away is no guaranteed three points either.
but we live in hope

Would you look at the optimism, some would call it blind, read some of your posts from a few months ago...would you sack the gaffer now?

I'm the same though, we have a chance but we never beat anyone away from home, ever, so for me it will proabably all come a cropper in Brattislava..."Brave Ireland rescue a draw"...mind you if that bollix Keane can show the form for Spurs for us we have hope

Re: Germany need them to have the group done and dusted when they come and play in Croker..you'll see a lot of players pull out for the sake of their clubs which will be great for US....Go on the Fatherland

Point taken LYA re the Gaffer, but I still think he's got a helluva lot to learn and alot to convince me that he's the man to lead us to only our 2nd Euro Finals ever.  In fairness, things have been bouncing his way lately what with young fellas laying down markers to older pros (I agree 100% regarding Robbie), Wales getting that draw and us scraping past Wales in Croker.  We'll know alot more come Sept 12 when the 2 games have been played.
