Shane O'Neill has been   called up by USA, for their friendlies
against Chile and Panama in January and February. USA also called up Liverpool reserves Mark Pelosi. If Ireland qualify for World cup 2018 in Russia,
it's possible Ireland could meet USA again i.e. first competitive game between the two countries, it will be a different ball game.

Imagine we qualify for World cup 2018,   imagine   this for a group in WC'18   England,Republic of Ireland,USA, and Cameroon ?
First of all, we better qualify for Euro 2016 in France, we can. Com'on you boys in green.

If Ireland do qualify for The World Cup 2018, it's possible that we could face an Asian or an African team such as Ghana,Nigeria, or Cameroon.   In the finals in every World Cup group ,   there always 2 European teams, Concacaf team, Asian team, or an African team.
Republic of Ireland played Egypt in Italia'90, and we played Cameroon at Japan/Korea World Cup 2002. That is why Cameroon is a link. I take International soccer very seriously, especially when Ireland are playing i.e. Euro games and World Cup games(qualifiers and Finals).

That got me too. Can only imagine that the OP realised that you cant have 3 European teams in the same group and Cameroon was the first team that sprung to mind

Is this the lad who's with Colorado Rapids and his old man played bogball for cork? Don't really get what the rest of the post was about but I love bizzare posts.

Think this has been handled very badly from the fai. He obviously has a good bit of talent and has some championship clubs monitoring him (very likely he will be playing in england next season) and has stated on numerous occasions how he would like to play for ireland ahead of the usa. He has said that the fai have never been in contact with him. Do we really have that many good young centre backs that we can overlook him so easily?
