Same here Sham. My latest bill and that of my parents is overcharged. I was though told that the next bill would rectify it when speaking originally about leaving. I fully expect both bills not to rectify it so I'll be calling them in a month's time no doubt.

I wish I hadn't bothered with the Internet with them at this stage. Would have preferred to have left completely.

Same as that but the next best internet option told me I could be waiting for up to 25 days for connection as I dont currently have a phone line. However, the next change in T&Cs from them and I'll order the internet in plenty of time and be gone once and for all.

Well it hasnt taken too long. Email today changing my T&Cs which include a €5pm increase in my monthly bill. As a result of my last row with these dickheads, I now only have Broadband (incl of phone which is included but i dont use or want but cant get rid of) as I got rid of the tv package. I will dedicate an appropriate amont of my working day tiomorrow investigating the alternatives before commencing my now regular verbal spat with some unfortunate in their 'loyalty department'.

In the meantime, if any D15 heads are looking and have experience of other providers particulary in the Littlepace/Castaheany/Ongar areas, then any feedback would be appreciated.

Was only just checking out offers on Sky TV and Broadband as this nonsense with UPC/Virgin was anticipated. They really are a pain in the hoop.

There are plenty of alternatives for the TV package. Riddle me this though, is the Virgin broadband by far the best? Sky/Eir any good??

Another fiver a month? FFS, assholes.

I'll be making a phonecall soon enough and getting another loyalty discount.

If I have to ring up and cancel and get my housemate to take out an account after that so he can get the new customer discount, I will, but I really hope it doesn't come to that.

For phoneline free Broadband then yeah. Nobody can match their speeds. In saying that if I could get a guaranteed 80-100mb from someone via the phone line then id be gone, price dependant of course.

thats on the BB only. I imagine if theres a TV package, then the increase will be more. Its not even the fiver, its the constant price increases a few euro here a few euro there. Then they have the cheek to include new free feature despite them jacking up your bill. Shower of f**ks.

I was previous with Virgin Media in the North and got a similar letter saying the price would be increasing by £6 per month in the small print in the bottom of the letter it stated that if you didn't agree you could cancel for free at anytime. Thought it was handy as I was moving and had 6 months left on my contract.

Phoned them up and just didn't take no for an answer and got it cancelled, had to post them back the tv box and all that kind of stuff though or they would have charged for it.

May depend on where you're living lads, more than ever. My mate in Rathmines has seen his broadband drop from 125mb/s down to 25mb/s since UPC switched over to Virgin. Apparently that's happened all over the area there.

Absolute cabbages.

Anyway, they've turned ours back on after 15 days. Can't wait to be finally shot of them come the end of the month. Getting a streaming box and an eircom connection. Question, do I need to worry about eircom's downloading policy regards not being able to use certain torrents site? Does it mean going through a proxy or something?

Would you not go for Sky broadband ?They are just repackaged Eircom and they are cheaper with a shorter contract.
Vodafone is the same but is an 18 month contract,I'm on Vodafone the last few years and havent had any issues with torrents.

Ive just moved into a new gaff.I just wanted an internet connection in the house. No TV,phone or whatever else.I went with magnet as i didnt want a contract. They were looking for 47e a month internet only,a bit steep but as i said i wanted no  contract.Sales guy said they would have somebody out to me in 10 days.Got the confirmation email saying the engineer would be out in 4 weeks, fcuk that, canceled immediately.

Went with Sky as its only 12 months and 49e for internet plus their basic TV package (dont need the TV but that was good value i think)

yeah under Irish law, if the T&Cs are changed you have a legal right to cancel within 30 days without penalty by giving 30 days notice. Previously UPC have collected any equipment I need to return. I would in my left nad post it back. Just cancl the Direct Debit and let them do the running.

Hi all.
my name is Bob and I've been Upc free now for 8 months. I take each day as it comes but with a skip in my step, making that first step and telling UPC to go f**k it's self after another price increase, was the best and hardest thing I've done in my life.

If I can inspire just one person sitting here tonight to make the change then it'll be worth it.

Thanks for your input Bob. It's great to hear you are doing so well. I am in the same boat regarding their TV service. I'm over it now. I don't miss their TV package at all. I do however still receive their old analogue cable signal, so have a cable connected directly to the telly box. That covers me for the Irish channels and a few others like Sky Wan, Setanta Ireland, Comedy central etc.....

My looking around begins now for new Broadband.

It's done. Best they could do is offer me €5 off for 6 months then for the remainder of the new 12 month contract it would be €45. Offer rejected, cancellation email sent in and signed up to Pure Telecom for €37pm. Adios Richard

I definitely think my broadband has slowed dramatically post Virgin takeover.

How do I prove this?
