Probably not a bad idea to buy a few cheap "sacrificial" jerseys for the particularly messy trips. Bring 5 or 6 of them and just leave them behind. And you'd have a fresh one every day.
I lost a brand new jersey in a boozer in Bratislava which turned out to be an expensive trip, in more ways than one. At least I think it was a boozer. It sold drink anyway. That's all I recall. But that's a whole new topic...........
