DUP ousting her due to abstaining on a vote to ban conversion therapy sums this lot up! Surely it won’t be long before these dinosaurs become extinct.

This party is in terminal decline. It's not just Snarlene but Deputy Dodds in the House of Lords who are being moved against. They are taking some stick from the barely sentient thickos who vote for them because of their mishandling of Brexit and the party is faction ridden and riven by plummeting membership. Poots seems to be favourite to take over, they'll probably restructure in some way. Gavin Robinson has been mentioned, I can't see it happening as he is a liberal by DUP standards and also an MP who narrowly won East Belfast in the last election. Naomi Long would take it for Alliance for the foreseeeable future if he were to resign his seat to take the leadership.

Some craic to be had if they give it to either Fleggory or Sammy. Suspect they will probably give it to Daniel O'Donnell though. Ian óg probably too out of favour these days to be in the running

The damage is already done to the DUP. Partly by themselves, but mainly due to people’s opinions changing. Particularly those in the middle and upper class areas of unionist majority’s, that now vote Alliance. It’s very hard to see them getting votes back particularly from Alliance. If they more hardline they’ll further push the likes of Bangor, Helens Bay further too Alliance.
If she does go, Diane Dodds will win it. Devout Christian, wife of Nigel, and well recognised. The DUP know Potts is an idiot, they won’t risk Robinson due to Naomi Long will destroy anyone else in an MP run off. Ian enjoys his comfortable MP seat too much, as does Sammy. Simon Hamilton would of been a pretty decent unionist first minister if he hadn’t of taken up a private sector post.

This is a real turning point for Unionism. There’s two directions, and I think they’ll go hardline. And ultimately it’ll be their downfall. Edwin Potts will be battered by the British Press. Unionists will struggle to ever get their majority back in Northern Ireland.

@PaulTyredagh81 A homophobic bigot being welcomed back into the DUP fold. He will support Poots. #nuffsaid. Sam McBride @SJAMcBride · 12h Estranged DUP MLA Jim Wells is confirmed to have a vote in the DUP's virtual leadership contest next Friday - meaning another vote for Edwin Poots. There will be a secret (online) ballot - and Nigel Dodds' role as deputy leader is also on the table. |

Deputy Dawds is gone. Pootsy still favourite for the leadership but Daniel O'Donnell has been making up ground. The party is f**ked long term whatever transpires. A grossly bigoted, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, politically myopic and inept sect that stands a reasonable chance of finishing behind both SF and Alliance this time next year in the NI Assembly elections. If they haven't collapsed the Assembly by then, that is, in which case I believe it will not be back. Roll on the border poll.

The Irish government is "deeply alarmed" at reports the UK intends to restrict future prosecutions of British soldiers who served in NI, Leo Varadkar has said. Stay classy
