They're starting their third choice left back today with two others injured so he's on the bench as fourth choice. Would be nice to see him get on but might not happen, though I think he can play further up the field too.

Cheers for that.
600-odd people watching....build it and they will come.
Good coverage too.

Pity the pitch looks like it came straight outa the 80's.

Had it on in the background. Ireland much better side and Umeh head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch. Hard to play any decent football on that pitch.

Benfica supposedly showing strong interest in Umeh. Cork Echo reported last month that he's joining them next year when he turns 16.

Might be true, might be a load of sh*te since it's the Cork Echo. But it's a good move if it comes about. Benfica have one of the best academies around.

Seen that after the U17 game against Armenia and was reported by quite a few accounts but haven't seen anything since. As you say, fantastic youth academy and he looked streets ahead of the rest of his team mates there today.

Looking back at all the players listed in the opening post of this thread only one of them made it to the big time.....alas it was Jack Grenglish...

That whole 2013-19 underage groups produced very few players, part of the reason we’re struggling now is that they would be todays 24-29 year olds. Only Maguire and Lenihan got caps and both in single figures

Ryan Manning, Chiedozie, Jamie McGrath another couple. Wouldn't really count O'Dowda, Robinson, and Cullen as they came through the English academy system before declaring for Ireland.

For me personally when talking about the lack of talent born between '93 and '98 I specifically refer to those that came through our schoolboy system. Scales will hopefully nail down a starting spot with Ireland and he's born in '98.
