It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Mourinho will have left Spurs before Parrott turns 19. For the remainder of this season, he should just keep the head down and focus on his physical development. Next season is the big test for him, whether it's staying at Spurs or going out on loan, which is the more likely option. My only current worry for him is the lack of games he's playing at the moment at underage level. I know these games get criticised but they're still important for someone at his age, especially a goalscorer.

I'll throw out another comparison - Rhian Brewster.
Nearly 2 years older than Parrott. Made his first 3 starts at senior level this season and has now gone out on loan to gain experience. Parrott has plenty of time to develop in the right way.

Jude Bellingham was barely 16 before he started playing for Birmingham in the championship and is now a regular. Is he better than Parrott, not in my opinion.
No reason why troy couldn't get a loan for the remainder of the season. |

Mourinho apparently suggesting parrott could see some football against Southampton tomorrow...
Difficult to believe him but would be good if he did.

I don’t see this happening against the saints - Jose played a strong team in the last round. He might get on the bench and get some minutes depending on the score. The Bayern game was odd. There was absolutely nothing to play for and he didn’t use him even though he said he would play some of the younger kids. |

The prize for winning the FA Cup is £3.6 million. The prize for winning a group game is €2.7 million. A draw is worth €900k. Getting through today is worth £180k. There was more to play for in Munich than today.

But I don’t think the accountants pick the team or strategy (I could be wrong here). But overall he played a weaker team v Munich away. Foyth, Sessegnon and KWP all played. A lot of first team players didn’t travel or start. 3-1 down with 10 mins to go and he brings on Wanymana. |

I would imagine managers are very much aware of the financial realities. Aside of that, there is more cachet in getting a result in Munich than going far in the cup. From a ‘purely footballing’ point of view, if there is such a thing anymore, it was a chance for Mourinho to see if Wanyama was worth keeping around or selling. The wages freed and price obtained in the case that he wasn’t, as it seems, bring us back to the beginning.

Absolutely no surprise there. Any time anyone says he could be involved he never is.

Parrot will never get a chance under Jose Mourinho . This is the same guy that sold Kevin De Bruyne, loaned Salah to Roma and Lukaku to Everton

You can say everything from he's 17 to Jose is risk averse, but you just have to look at the attacking options on the spurs bench. Troy being on the bench seems like common sense more than anything.

Correct there really is no need for two defensive midfielders!
Mourinho is a stubborn c**t.

He is anti-football posion. He'd play 11 defenders if he could.

It's nothing to do with the money as far as JM is concerned. Fact is, having to take the Spurs job was a step down for him when you consider the giant and/or hugely wealthy clubs he's previously managed. Therefore he has work to do to repair his reputation and CV. Which means winning trophies. The PL is obviously out for Spurs, but finishing Top Four still counts as a "trophy" (as eg Wenger used to point out) and he'll be going all out for that unless/until it's mathematically impossible. They're highly unlikely to win the CL this season, at least with Kane out injured, and they're out of the League Cup. Which leaves the FA Cup. Of course this isn't a competition he'd have given a second thought to eg back in his Chelsea days, where he won it just the once(?) in two spells. But by the time he was at Man U, suddenly he was crowing about winning an even lesser trophy in the League Cup (also EL). Which is why he's never going to rely on a 17 y.o. tyro like TP in must-win games. Rather, as we saw away to Soton y'day, he'll abandon his usual defensive mind-set and pick a team full of attacking/experienced players to get him the goals he needs. (I say "goals" plural, though one is often enough for him, as 87 mins at St.Mary's demonstrated) Meanwhile, this guy's comments might shed some more light on the issue:

Whatever else you can criticise JM for - and if you're behind me in the queue over that, you'll be waiting a helluva long time to get your say - that substituion was a perfectly rational one which any other manager might have made. That is, having gone to an in-form team and led until the 87th minute, the only team which was likely to win it in the remaining few minutes was Saints. Therefore, he took off one of his six(!) attack-minded players and replaced him with a defensive one to see out the last few minutes. Like bringing on Lamela at 0-0 for a tiring, first time starter, Gedson, it's called "game management". And whatever else you think of Mourinho, that's one thing he's still pretty good at.
