Leaving aside the financial implications, for footballing reasons alone would you like Trap to remain in charge or walk away now?

Surprised at that when I voted it was 6-0 in favour of him staying.

I think that people are genuinely of the opinion that he will not change his system, which will mean that talented players like McCarthy and Hoolohan will not get into the team.

I know a lot of this is post euros hysteria. I backed him before and all through the euros but come on, teh substitutions and tactics were just baffling. Cox on left wing looked so awkward against Croatia. Taking Green on instead of Gibson against Spain. The whole set up seemed to have been wrong and there are rumours aplenty of player unrest. Players looked jaded in all three games, which is worrying.

I don't think he'll go but he needs to make drastic changes for next game. Ward has to go from left back. I think O'Shea has to go to middle of defence. McCarthy into the midfield and Walters/Long to replace Keane. Needs to take Wilson back into the fray, have a look at Hoolohan and possobly have an (interpreted) phone call with Stephen Ireland.

With Redknapp as his right hand man we'll have the world-class management team that we were promised when Stan/Robson came in.Clap

I think he should walk away. He's too set in his ways to change his thinking and now Irish football needs someone with fresh ideas to bring on the next generation.

The tactics and the set up were as what got us to the finals. Trap has been quite open in saying that, and that's not an unreasonable position to be in. All coaches have their preferred 11. Charlton was the same, McCarthy was the same. He could have put on 11 Gerd Mullers against Spain at 0-3, and it probably wouldn't have made any difference.

He's also openly stated that there will be changes for the next campaign. They won't please everybody as 22 can't go into 11, no matter what.

Trap got this bunch of ragball journeymen to 5 defeats in 27 competitive games, and got us all a long-awaited trip to a tournament. I'm all for him staying put.

id like him to either change it up or walk away, sadly i severly doubt there will be any changes, and i fear the players have lost confidence in him. For that reason i think he should go.

The Euros was an absolute mess and Trap must take a good share of the blame for that . He's not gonna take this team further . Time to move on

It was 27-25 when I wrote that which is conclusive evidence that Trap is a spoofer.

I actually think the euros where a serious wake up call for Trap and actually feel he will bow to public demand ,bring in the new lads and change his system. At least the two finalists came from our group which looks a little better.

Yeah it was great and that is why I have backed him up until this point. He has been a success but at what, 73? he will be 75 at the next tournament and I seriously doubt he has the appetite for change. Do you honestly expect him to drop Whelan? Ward will probably still be left back and if Keane doesn't retire, he won't drop him. I think the aforementioned players, especially keane deserve great credit for what they've done in an Irish shirt, but the time has come for change and I for one, do not believe Trap is the man to do it.

I just do not want to be left with a  situation where we are left with 0 points from first two games, Trap walks out and fail to make play offs by a point and left once again thinking, 'What if?'
