Didn't they do away with the walnuts and just call them Whips?

Remember being at a neighbour's house as a child with my mother and the woman cracking walnuts with a hammer or something. Here's a musing for ya. It's amazing some of the utterly useless information you retain.

Bringing back some 90s Halloween memories there

Thought I was imaging it, they did remove them for awhile but they sold poorly.

Father saying he used to drive after having 14 or 15 pints and he'd see 3 or 4 white lines when there was only one.

Was this a common thing before drink driving laws became stricter?

What? Are you asking if people drank under the influence before it became illegal?

Probably, sure there's a well known ad that's said don't drink that 5th pint from 80/90s so I'd imagine there wasn't anything before that

Four or five I thought would've been common alright. Wouldn't fancy my chances on more than eight.

He's claimed in the past to have walked a fairy path and ended up several miles from where he should've been, and another time he claimed to have seen a weasel funeral, so it's fair to say he could've taken it easier on the jars in his beering days.

How come you never hear the wird 'lager' being used anymore?

Everything is a beer.  Craft Beers.  Even Carlsberg changed their slogan from 'Probably the best lager in the world' to 'Probably the best beer in the world'.

Whots all that about Jeff?

Lagering is a process used to make beer through fermentation,  wholesale brewing uses enzymes to speed up the process so not staying loyal to the traditional lagering process.

Stuff you never see anymore.

White dog poo.
Years-old abandoned cars left in random fields out in the country.
Hedgehogs.
Kids playing non-organised pick-up football in parks and greeneries - we used to do it on the grounds of the Protestant Church in the town centre twenty years ago. Can't believe noone complained.

Unorganised game of football, usually on concrete, that starts with four or five people, and ends up with ten more randomers joining by the end of it.

Corporal punishment from teachers. As recently as the mid-90s, I remember regularly getting hit on the palm of the hands with the sally rod by one in national school when I was around 7 or 8.

I don't think teachers do that anymore.
