he's still young so there will be plenty more ups and downs still to come from Gav but glad he's getting into a bit of form Clap

He is the very least of our worries, to be quite honest. If the rest of them were as solid as him we might have something approaching a half-decent team.

The thing about Bazunu is he backs himself and isn't afraid to put himself in risky situations if he thinks it's needed to snuff out danger, he commands his box as best he can, this of course leads to some mistakes but he needs to make mistakes to learn. You can tell Kelleher doesn't do that and plays it very safe and tentative in the hopes that the danger doesn't come to fruition. On top of that he just seems slower to the draw when it comes to making saves compared to Bazunu. Maybe I'm wrong I don't know but he needs to get regular meaningful matches to give him that sharpness in goal.

I think there's clearly a very good keeper there with Bazunu. It's still important to remember he's still 21 years of age. He's years ahead of the curve when it comes to goalkeepers.

He has his flaws and definitely got away with an error last night but they will improve with age and experience. We're very lucky to have a prospect like him and with 21 caps at 21, he could easily end up our most capped player ever.

Great lad who will only get better.

I'd back him to be at a top 6/8 premiership team by his late 20's.
l hear you are a racist now, father ?

He was Ireland's best player, but rising shots (with a bit of power behind them) beat him too often.

I’m with John on this, most were saves you would expect. The dive at the feet was brilliant but the rest were pretty much straight at him.
Could have been better for goal.
The one that went through his hands was calamitous for an international goalkeeper but he got lucky.

The high player rating is to suit the agenda that the team were sh*t and completely saved by the keeper. But again I think other keepers like Travers or Kelleher would have saved those chances too.

Now I still think he is the number 1 keeper for now because I have similar reservations about Kelleher and travers. But I do not feel like is a very safe pair of hands. Randolph was a little bit less nerve wracking for me.

Compared with the times I initially grew up on with Given, Alan Kelly even Kiely, you just didn’t have that nervousness around mistakes are to be expected here and there.

This, and just to be clear he was probably the Irish MotM, but it was no more than a 6, 7 at best/10 performance - it was a low bar set by his teammates. He didnt make a save where you thought wow that saved a certain goal, he did the routine stuff pretty well, bar one very poor attempt at a save where it went through his hands and ended up hitting the post, he got very lucky with that one. The Dutch were very poor in offence, profligate, their shooting was poor and every through ball was overhit. Gav stayed alert throughout and his distribution was good.

read close to a dozen different player ratings (indo, irish times, examiner, rte, the 42, etc) and he got an 8/10 in every one lol

Now thats the kind of hyperbole I object to. Bazunu did nothing in particular that you wouldnt expect any reasonably competent keeper to do. The Dutch could and should have won 3 or 4 nil, but that was not down to Bazunu's wonderful goalkeeping, they were woeful in the final third on the night!

spot on.
