Harris was a disaster from the get go and should never have gotten the job after what he was involved in up here. But plenty partitionist thinking in the decision makers so his record didn't actually matter.

He should be sacked immediately

What's the issue with Harris? Is it his fault or the governments for under funding.
Oh just 99% of Garda voting no confidence in him. Garda stations across the country getting weaker under his watch, Garda losing control of Dublin City centre (before last night) Then there’s the links to mi5
I did hear that new Garda recruits are quiting left right and centre.

Matthew Collins worth a listen on Brolly’s podcast this week discussing the far-right. Stephen Graham played him in the tv series The Walk In.

What bit is not correct.  The far right do hijack all of these areas.

That doesn’t mean anyone who has a concern in these areas is far right.

You can also add shilling for Russia to that. The far-right in Ireland has become a travelling rent-a-mob that will glom onto local issues, and look to exploit them, and the people expressing them. And unfortunately, there will be people who will have honest concerns, who will be suckered by the idea that this mob are 'listening'.

It's gotten way more coverage then it deserves, which might be about the only intelligent thing that was achieved. This will only encourage more of these protests and more numbers joining in.

The best course of action is for politicians to say ok, you are citizens, please get three leaders to sit down and discuss this calmly and without shouts and insults and we will record it so all fellow citizens can make their minds up.

They want to be outcasts, they want to read your comments that say why aren't they at work, they are thick, they are imbeciles. Why? Because it will attract more people.

If they are treated as equals, which they should as all citizens are equal. And they are engaged and put on the spot light they will look foolish, they will stutter and stammer and show themselves up and this potential wildfire will burn itself out.

But that won't happen. And more protests will.

They generally focus on any 3 of the topics below.

The Covid/Vaccine scam
Big Pharma
The Climate Change scam
Refugees coming into Ireland
Gender identity
Libraries having books they don’t like

They generally stay away from topics that would actually make the lives better for the ordinary people of Ireland.

It’s all culture war stuff that has been imported in from America mainly but as Brolly says.  Who is paying for these agendas being pushed.  These lads are just the foot soldiers, the cannon fodder.

Good man Tom.
There will always be ignorant people. I think the major issue with the sex ed thing was the book this is gay. As Gerk alluded to, this was touted by curriculum makers as a possible resource and was rightly dropped due to pressure from some corners. It's there for all to see that the book was a step too far and thanks to some  people who weren't afraid to voice their opinions on it, it was scrapped.

These days it's getting all too easy to drop the middle and label everything as either far right or left. There were genuine concerns with that book coming into the school cycle and it's wrong for the guy who wrote that article you posted to portray those attending as pearl clutching right wing dinosaurs of yesteryear. It's a journalistic style far too common these days and even on here.
Only last week you had Baldrick claiming that those absolute idiots protesting at the Dail were just another strand from the "anti vaccine, anti immigration,.climate denying crowd" and it's just lazy commentary, the type of which has contributed to making everything one side or the other, to ridicule people who have fair and genuine concerns about something and to scare them into sharing their opinion .
There are many, maybe most "anti-vaxxers" who have taken malaria, polio and flue vaccines but had concerns about the covid one and sat it out for a while - labelled selfish, tin foil hat wearers who are putting our loved ones at risk as the vaccine stops the spread, a premise which turned out to be compely false. Anti-vax  it is. There are many "anti-immigration" folk who welcome immigrants into our country but have concerns about our ability to house the amount coming in, given that a housing crises existed here before Putin headed South. But yeah, far right knuckle dragger it is....It's just lazy commentary which is putting genuine debate in the bin and it's boring.

A bit annoyed I didn't know about the event in Clare until yesterday - My great uncle led that ambush so might have tried to gt down to it (though definitely not to listen to Martin!)

I didn't know your great uncle was a terrorist.

Have you considered the hurt that he caused to all those Irish families and to the Unionist community.

He wasn't. Happy to clarify on that.

But he was murdering innocent Irish people doing their jobs.

No, he fought in the war of independence (in the same way he had fought in World War 1 a few years earlier).
