Kilkenny's a bit of a forgotten man these days, doesn't get a start for Bournemouth tonight in their EFL Cup game, though he's on the bench. Needs to get a loan move in the next couple of days, there was talk of interest from Birmingham City.

23 years old now. Not looking great. I have watched very little of him in action, just a few games, so I can't say what I think of him as a player, but he was talked of as being a cultured midfielder. Wonder why he got no traction with his career?
Still youngish, yes, but 23 is an age by which you see players making a name if they go on to have a decent impact on the game.

Was told he could skip training this week and was left out of the matchday squad entirely for Charlton's last game. Two disastrous loans for him this season and no realistic hope of breaking through at Bournemouth with them staying up. Hard to know where he goes from here. Maybe try another League 1 loan next season if he can get one.

Ya Kilkenny hasn't played any football since August, mainly because of injury. So he didn't play for 5 months before his Charlton debut. It is going to take him a few months to build match fitness and confidence. Hopefully he get plenty of gametime and picks up some confidence and form over the next few months.
I see he is still contracted to Bournemouth until June 2025. Also Bournemouth could well get relegated this season. So that would probably suit both Kilkenny and Travers with hopes of getting regular starts in the Championship.

Seen all his games for Charlton, definitely seems a little rusty, he is still well thought of by the manager and will definitely get better with more games, not ready for call up just yet imo.

He's 23 now, while it's early days for him at Charlton you'd be hoping he'd be standing out at a mid table League 1 team by this point. But the view there so far seems to be that he doesn't seem to be any better than what they already have at the club.
He's barely played 20 games of senior football, that's got to be a massive hinderance to his development at his age. It's probably unreasonable to expect him to be playing 90 mins once (or even twice) a week, he's not used to this level of intensity.

Didn't know the current Charlton manager was Michael O'Neill's assistant at Stoke.

Played the full 90'. 2-1 win over Exeter.

Charlton fans seem very pleased with his performance.

Kilkenny's move to Charlton went under my radar, only found out about it today with all the transfers of Irish players going on it was hard to keep up.

I know it is a step down in League One but he needs a period of playing regularly which he hasn't done much of in his career other than the spells in August, October and November for Bournemouth last season.
The Stoke move didn't work out because he was out injured for 3 months for the first half of the season.

Hopefully he can get playing at Charlton and play well. What type of football do Charlton play these days?

First team football is the main priority for him at this point. Josh Cullen played for Charlton in League 1 at the same age so there is a pathway for him from here.

15th in League One. Would have been nice to see him join a team pushing for promotion but at least he'll be out of Stoke and playing regularly.

He's 23 in less than a month and has only played 28 times at senior club level.

That's simply too many years of bench warming to develop as a player.
