Kiefer Crosbie signs and will make his debut on the Adesanya card in Sydney in 2 weeks. Not sure who the opponent is.

Impressive from O’Malley. Managed to prevent a couple of take downs too. His movement confused Sterling to the point where Sterling could never get set for a takedown.

Holy sh*t boys never thought I'd see Sean O'Malley as champ. That was McGregor like.

Whether or not Ian Garry ever wins the title or even gets a shot we've now got an Irish Man who's a legit top 10 welterweight. Absolutely domination over Neil Magny. Called out Wonderboy who's a dangerous next opponent but neither will threaten eachother on the ground so it's going to be a kick boxing fight.

He comes from a very middle-class upbringing in Portmarnock, it's not exactly a rags to riches story.

Neither was McGregor's

Yeah but Ian Garry sounds like he should be lining out for the Goys in Green in the next six nations.

That's not true. Anybody I've talked to wants Ian to do well even if they don't like his personality. It's not a popularity contest it's MMA and Irish People generally support their own unless they're a scumbag. So far Garry hasn't shown any signs of being a scumbag. The hate he seems to get is childish.

Kicked out of his gym on the eve of the cage warriors title fight. The only thing childish is getting your boyfriend's name tattooed on your arm after 12 weeks

He needs to cut out the wannabe McGregor act. It all comes off as completely fake with him because he doesnt have the charisma of McGregor.

He has some ability, and would be better off letting his abilities do the talking. He has a good opportunity to make it into the top 10, and after that he is looking at fights against some huge names. Probably one win away from being 2nd from the top on a Dublin fight night headlined by Johnny Walker.

For some reason I class those anti immigration racists in the same bracket as McGregor fans.

He obviously doesn't have the hype train behind him, that helped Mcgregor.
And in ireland he didn't come from 'working class' on the dole with a loveable rogue character and major charisma, Garry is more of a Rugby type head who was trying to act like he's from the street and trying to be like McGregor, think that's what put a lot of onlookers off him a little. We are very much a class driven society and it suits us better when people stay in their own lane LOL (you sometimes see it in rugby where players not from public school background it becomes a talking point).

In addition in McGregor's case, it wasn't just the Irish who loved or hated him it was the UFC fans globally who were/are tapped in to that. He became a global superstar very quickly.

Garry is maybe a bit more of a slowburn and he hasn't really tore through his opponents in the same way either as mcgregor did, most of his fights he was in a bit of jeopardy until the one the other night. But that could be a bit of a springboard. I know my UFC liking mates we are all in the same boat that we want him to do well like and if he starts getting those big fights and gets into the top contender position then I'm sure a lot of the Irish support will row in behind him like they would any good Irish contender in sport.

But mcgregor was on a different level and almost Jesus like for some!,

No one in Ireland bought that story. It was hardly believable when you're living in a big gaf in Laraghcon.

Hard to argue with Garry's lack of originality. Trying very hard to be McGregor 2.0, even though his rise is a lot slower. To be fair to him, he's hardly the first to try it; James Gallagher is another example.

That win over Rodriguez was his best performance so far, finally backed up his own hype, and even called how the ko would happen.

He's a lot less chaotic in personality than McGregor,, who judging by clips from the new season of TUF has gone to resembling his behaviour from the pre-Khabib fight, as opposed to his dedicated days.
