I’d say there’s not a hope that kids have bases these days. We had one in a part of the M50 roundabout. Using whatever stuff you could find to make them.

We called them huts. Many the hut we made alright using any sort of sh*te. If you got a mattress you were laughing!
They'd always end up getting burned down

half the fun in making a base was just cutting down tree's. Any excuse to use a hatchet at that age!

We had a proper one. So elaborate it had mugs for tea (proper sophistication) and glasses for fizzy pop - manky they were. At one stage club orange (i think) were doing some sort of doorstep drop for a marketing campaign of their mini cans in the estate. We were wide to this and followed their every move and collected the cans as they moved from door to door. Loaded the base up. Heady days There was so much action in those bushes that they were threadbare and our base was destroyed by a rival bunch of young lads. Walked the same area a few months back and it was incredibly dense and perfect for a base to be hidden in the back but alas, kids are boring aul sh*tes nowadays.
