'Drinking that Kool-Aid', another horrendous Americanism. What makes it even worse is that I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't even Kool-Aid that they drank at Jonestown but some cheaper rip-off of it.

Worked in retail when I was younger so this one really annoys the f*ck out of me.

When a customer is paying for something and instead of putting the money in the cashier's hand, they put it on the counter. Seriously c*ntish behaviour.

Think a lot of places are encouraged to do it in case a dispute arises with "you didn't give me the right change". Pain in the hold alright, especially if there's lots of coins.

Possibly, it doesn't make the phrase any less annoying though.

Yeah, I think it is also just a cultural thing. Is it the States where they have those trays that cashiers always put change down on? So if it was a yank buying stuff from you they'd be less likely to place it in to your hand as they are used to putting it down on a counter.

True, still an annoying phrase.
I think Kool Aid became the phrase because it was the more well known brand.

Bob Geldof.
So Dublin CC have removed the freedom honour to A S Suu Kyi.
But they have decided not to restore or give back the honour to Bob, who gave his back last month as a protest to A S Suu Kyi still having hers.
He is a pain in the orse.
He was spotted a few years ago wearing an Order of Leopold (or something like that) medal that his dad/grandad has been awarded.
Good old King Leopold of Belgium had a horrific record in Africa of abuse, amupatations were the things they liked to do to the locals, including children, who misbehaved.
I wonder has Bob returned or denounced that honour yet??

Bono - wasn't he praising the soldiers who served on Bloody Sunday a few weeks back?

It was far across the sea,
When the devil got a hold of me,
He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.
