I do agree that you shouldn’t have to do way more, but experience is usually rewarded financially, and the longer you are there it is usually easier to get out early or come in late every now and again without a big deal being made of it.

What used to annoy me is a previous job was the holiday list.
25 people in the office, manager gets to pick holidays first, then the next most experienced and so on.
The poor fook that comes in last then can only take what’s left.
Ps. Only 3 people could be on hols at the same time.
You got used to it but it didn’t help when the person in charge of the list treated it like their own fiefdom, guarded it like treasure, you had to pick the right moment, make sure they were in a good mood, to go in and ask a day off for a wedding or something.

I remember that show alright, it was very good. Was only trying to think of the name of it recently but couldn't remember. That t**ser off the Vodafone TV ad was in it as well.
