I've learnt that Archibald Leitch was the Architect for Anfield, Highbury, Old Trafford, Villa Park, Craven Cottage, Lansdowne Road and several other stadiums...

Not to be confused with Archibald Leach, which was the real name of the actor Cary Grant.

Cocker spaniels are so named because they were bred to hunt woodcocks.

Also, just watching a youtube video and he pronounced it "Cap-RI sun", as in the same pronunciation as the island off Italy, Capri, pronounced Cap-RI. I'd always pronounced it "CAP-ri sun", but seeing as they are actually named after the island of Capri, maybe it should be Cap-RI sun.

I never thought about it before, but that makes sense.

On a slightly related point, and this is one more for the 'annoying things' thread, or whatever it is, is the pronouncing place names in teh local language, dialect or accent instead of the standard English pronunciation. It seems to be particularly common with a certain type of ****, the type who wears a hat with a t-shirt, and place names from the Spanish speaking world. Particularly irritating examples being 'Chee-lay' and 'Coo-bah'.
Bizarrely, none of these f**kers say they are off to Shhhhhhkibereeeen or Glesgy or Naaar-itch,or even Amshterdam or Par-ee, but a lot seem to eat vegan chor-ith-o.

That's interesting, I thought it was for a different reason entirely.

Yeah, there was an awful spate of African ones for a while too.  A result of the gap year phenomenon.
