My Great Uncle was with him when he died outside the Hammam Hotel in the Battle of O'Connell Street in July 1922. He escaped and was captured in August on the Night of the Bridges by Free State troops. Was sent to Tintown (Curragh) Camp and then Maryborough (Portlaoise) Prison where he went on hunger strike. Released at Christmas 1923. Massive Depeche Mode fan.
