Had beans for the first time in twenty years there. Haven't changed my mind. They're absolutely sh*te. Peas are way better.

Also had mince pies for the first time a fortnight ago because I was a guest in someone's house and didn't want to be rude. They weren't as bad as I thought they'd be but I would gladly never have one again.

British/Northern Irish breakfasts over Irish ones. Square sausages. Clap

British breakfasts are rank. Horrible sausages and rashers. Brekkie up North is very decent alright with the soda bread and/or potato bread and/or fried bread.

I will say the old Ulster Fry (pronounced Olster fray) is better.  Had one in Ballymena which was absolutely savage.  You can only feel fully satisfied by a fry when its cooked by a staunch unionist.

Thought square sausages were a Scottish thing? Anyway Irish breakfast is way better. British black pudding and bacon aren't in the same league as Irish!

Not a big bacon fan. Most of it is fat and gristle. Too greasy and unsatisfying. Mushroom omelette, that's another nice breakfast option going away.

British black pudding is a crime against a fry.

I am partial to a bacon and haggis on toast for breakfast now and again. The  Scots certainly beat the English in the breakfast department. They maybe even challenge us.

Had a simply superbly outstanding Ulster Fry in Ballycastle last Summer and it definitely wasn’t cooked by a Unionist of any sort. Last one I had before that was a few years back in a pub in Belfast with Antrimman which was an excellent feast also. The standard of breakfast in the free state has diminished a lot in recent times both in quality of the food and the actual items included.

Too many branded cafes about these days , and not enough greasy spoons.  Somehow, the thought of a pre packaged ‘breakfast bap’ from cafe Nero always leaves a sour taste in the mouth - not literally , as it’s fairly daycent grub, but you know what I mean, hopefully .

If people ate more of them, and drank more Guinness, they’d live a lot longer and be a lot healthier.

Even though it’s time for a change, our current crest isn’t bad.

Yeah its grand, nothing special but not terrible either. It got better too since they changed the text from FAI to FAIreland to just Ireland.
