Mike Ashley really needs to stay away from TV cameras, he's like the footballing version of Diane Abbott, everytime he speaks he comes across more stupid.

Apparently there isn't much to spend as all his money is in shares! Believable story..

Positives to take 11 v 11 looked solid enough.

Shelvey stupidly got sent off. Injuries also had a big affect.

We won't be playing Spurs each week

I think Newcastle are really lacking someone in midfield to pull the strings, with the pace of the likes of Atsu/Gayle/Perez they will threaten many sides if they hit form "but" would you agree that the team are lacking someone to give them the ball required to get the best out of them?

For once I agree with you

de Jong played well in pre Season but not even on bench today( probably injured). Think he could do it but really need someone who can pick as pass.

Watching Ashley interview, to be honest nothing he has said is controversial.

Being extremely honest

The new season is defo in full swing when the Toons number 1 fan is back to help us out LOL

The answer is Mikel Merino.

It's a bit crazy to suggest a youngster who's new to the league with very little top flight experience be it in Spain or Germany never mind in England to be the answer, no?

But yeah mature response from yourself as always......

Depends which way you look at it. If youre expecting him to spend 70, 80, 90 million its a slap down to reality.
Otherwise to suggest hes skint although hes made a profit every year including last season in the Championship is an insult to Rafa

Signing of Joselu confirmed a bit underwhelming but I it's our level now I suppose newly promoted team and all.

Shall give him a chance though before making any permanent judgement who knows he may just turn out to be a great piece of business.

Bargain basement signings lead to this unfortunately. Been there and read the book already and it stings alot.
Didn't want to win today and if you cant want to win against Huddersfield in the 2nd game of the season then even Derrick Evans is out of his depth on this one.

Joselu looked the best out the bad bunch, more than what Mitrovic offers being actually able to hold the ball up

Rafa has spent around £40m on signings, will still complain that Ashley hasn't backed him.

The Rafalution going very well I see.

Sweepstake up to guess which month he'll be gone by. Absolutely no chance he'll tolerate this sh*t while Ashley blatantly lies to the media to cover his angle
