they have a raffle in the dressin room before the game and the first 11 out of stephen Ireland's unused cap takes the field. the other 11 go back into the hat for the half time draw and stan does eenie meenie miney mo on the 11 that started the game to see who comes off. The rest that dont get picked are promised a start against Brazil to blood them into the set up while the ones that are taken off are given certificates stating they all played tremendously well and the gaffer couldnt have asked any more from them

Miller should have been in the squad from the start. He's been pretty consistant of late at club level. Keanes anti Cork comments didnt help his cause for selection with stubborn stan

I think your giving Stan far too much credit Cookie Monster...I was told they used to play Paper, Scissors, Rock to decide who plays but Stan banned it as he couldn't get his head around the rules, apparently the FAI endorsed it and any player caught palying it is kicked out of the squad..that's the real reason Stephen Ireland can't play.

anyone hear stan on skysports this evening? Cant stand Stan at the moment but in the back of my head have a soft spot because of the player he was, until tonight! He was asked about the loss of andy reid and he just scoffs, smiles and goes its no loss theres 3 or 4 others who can do the exact same job. (with a stupid grin!)
Who,Obrien? no seriously who else is left in the team that can? Then he just scoffs about Millers recent form, hope miller wasnt watchin as wasnt really bigging up the player!

Just seen that meself. it really does say it all about our gaffer, if he's that shockin' in front of the press; god only knows what he's like in front of the players. he never has anything inspirational to say to the public/fans....no wonder all of the passion we had throughout the years is disappearing rapidly. stan really is a  of a manager

Jaysus Lads, I didnt see that interview but fook me, if it looked as bad as yee say I'd go from the wire if I was Reid or Miller. Statler is an embarrassment to us as "serious" football nation. How can he expect Reid and Miller to give him 100% after a degrading assessment of their worth to the team like that. PLEASE JEEEESUS will someone pull the plug on this FOOKIN shambolic set up before The Simpsons or Southpark do a feature on it
