They have already changed the residency rule to 5 years, albeit it's not in force until 2021. They should really have enforced it straight away when the change was agreed upon, but no doubt the likes of the Irish would have gone mad as they were plucking rugby players from the back arse of South Africa who were already close to being "Irish" at the time of the rule change.
The whole thing is a farce. Nothing new there though, international rugby has been a farce in this regard for years. The fact the IRB or World Rugby or whatever they call themselves these days, decided to change the residency rule to 5 years was an admittance that the whole thing was a sh*t show with the 3 year rule.

Would anyone on here have access to tickets for the Ireland Scotland match? Booked Japan and thought it would be worth it to guy seeing as it'll be on while i'm there.
Any help would be great - cheers.

No.1 in the world now heading into the World Cup. This time last year it was deserving, not now. Edited by Zinedine Kilbane 110 - 07 Sep 2019 at 3:52pm |

They look so much fitter than a couple of weeks ago and fitter than Wales. We may have written them off too soon.Still likely to go out in the QF to NZ or SA, but at least looking like giving them a lot more of a match.

Have to remember Ireland came back from Portugal, where they seemingly had high intensity warm weather training, in what was many players first games against England who were 2 games into there warm up series. I don't think Ireland are the best team going to the world cup and they could easily get knocked out in the QF as SA and NZ are top teams but they were slated too quick after that England game

We can beat south africa but i just cant see us beating the all blacks. Its possible but i wouldnt put money on it. November tests or friendlies dont really count.

Maybe if we met in the final we could topple them. Thats more of a one off but before that i see them beating us fairly handy

Why is a final more of a one off than a quarter final.

If we meet in the qf im sure they will beat us. If we met in the final theres no more games. I feel we would have a chance in that scenario. Just the way i see it.

We lost a warm up game (not a test) and we were heading home after losing to Scotland and possibly even Japan, we won a warm up game (not yet sure if it was a full test or not) and we're now ranked No #1 in the egg world and bring on the Sith Ifricans. May as well book the day off & leave early for the airport the day they are due home after winning it.
An aside, anyone see the photo of the SA lads with the tops off, aye, a lot of work in the gym alright- at least 5 of them are surely headed to the WWE after the tournament is over. Pity about their squad teammate who tested positive for performance enhancing drugs a few weeks ago all the same, obviously the single bad egg in that setup, they're better off without him. |

So after another successful World Cup (made the 1/4’s) the 6N start this weekend.
England should walk the tournament. A lot of teams are in transition. Sexton is 34 now and made captain. He said he wants to play for the lions next year so he will be around for a bit longer.

Disappointed with the team, learned nothing from the last year, reputations over form players. I'd have Cooney and Byrne at half back, McCloskey ahead of Aki

Mentally it just depends on how well England have prepared. But the bulk of the RWC team remains the same. Will be interesting to see how a new regime handles Ireland, butnlike you say, it’s transitional.
