Think all that is going on in the world has finally broke me the ironic thing is it actually took the easing of lockdown to do it. When I was hearing from very few people during lockdown I could use it as a reason why but now with lockdown over I'm starting to see everyone be back out socialising etc yet my phone is still silent

Looks like the sacrifices I made 10-15 years ago to help my family are finally coming back to haunt me now. Was told this would happen but still feels absolutely sh*te when it finally hits you fill in the face Ouch

Not being a smart arse Ringer but have you reached out to these people yourself? Try to organise a catch up?

I've one or two mates that are fairly rudderless and wouldnt organise a thing themselves but once i make contact and see about catching up they're game on.

I'd of tried before with no luck McG and tbh if I took the football lads I go to games with out ofnof it theytthey notmnot left to contact. As said in original post I made sacrifices that I thought was the best thing to do years ago and in doing so most of my mates at the time just drifted away and don't chat to me anymore.

Others are the sort that I'd of contacted about planning something and say they were doing XYZ only for me to see later on they were out and hadn't mentioned it to me. Normally I'm grand with that just ignore it cause I've trips coming up to focus on but it's sh*te now when have nothing to look forward to

This hasn't been bumped in ages but I've been thinking about it a bit lately. My mental health is fine, luckily I've never had an issue. I manage a few people who suffer with anxiety/depression/stress and I struggle to support them. A broken leg or a cold and its grand, take the time off to recover and we'll see you soon. Mental health is a minefield and I don't address it with them. I'm a finance manager, the last person you want advising in any way on mental health!
I was reading the covid thread where an idiot was on about suicide and the damage to mental health but the people I work with have had a completely different experience since March. They love working from home, don't have the commute, only meeting up with people they like in small groups and when the bad day comes, they leave the camera off on zoom. I've had chats recently with friends about how the economy can be altered for good through covid-19 but I think this is the time to try and address mental health and make the change for an easier life for sufferers.
For the lads on here who suffer with mental health issues, what are the benefits from the last 6 months and what could your manager/employer continue with or change?

As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression the last 6 months have been a bit of a roller coaster tbh. At the start I had mentally prepared myself so I was fine when others at work were struggling but as time went on I had several downward spells were I wasn't doing great at all (some of which was due to social isolation)

In regards to my work they have been in contact a lot more my manager would check in most weeks see how things are and they have been a lot more understanding when I was having a bad day would encourage me to get away from the laptop as they knew I would get the work done another time

Even when we slowly started to reopen and were going out to meet groups etc they were understanding that I was extremely nervous about this and never forced me to do it so my return was done on my terms which was a huge weight off my shoulders

All in all I'm happy with the support I get from my management at the best of times but its been even better during this period

Hope things improve for you Ringerbell.

I found lockdown tough the isolation and loneliness really got to me.
The lock lockdown that has recently been imposed is not as stringent or severe but not being able to see my son is difficult.

Re Slow & Blind my work were excellent with furlough and with the support I received from them.

Not really sure why you felt the need to tell us all what your job is. There seems to be a trend on here now where some people are using threads to talk about their job/position.

I genuinely see no issue. Guy comes on and shares an experience in work during the pandemic and uses a bit of context and then poses a question?

Is it because he mentioned the fact that he is a finance manager and not qualified to deal with mental health issues? What’s the problem there?

I presume trigger has an issue because the OP would have what’s perceived to be a good job. If he came on and said he’s a bin man
I doubt trig would have an issue.

Edit; which is f**king nonsense & the OP was correct to use his job for reference

A bin man is actually a good job. What’s wrong with it? As the pandemic has shown its the jobs like bin men and shop workers etc which have turned out to be the most important jobs. It just seems some people on here always love an opportunity to bring their job into things.
