I doubt so, they could win the league that day AFAIK. What better way to do it then at home against your city rivals |

There's also the case of if they do win the league that day how would the celebrations effect the preparations/mindset for the second leg 3 days later.

Ah for jaysus sake. Pitiful You really come across as incapable of discussing things in a proper manner on here. Maybe you're one of those not very computer literate oul fellas who types one handed. Would explain why the average length of one of your posts is 4 words or else 3 smiley faces. Edited by Roberto Baggio - 21 Mar 2018 at 11:58am |

I saw a couple of comments online where Liverpool supporter groups talking about creating a real hostile environment for when citeh come for the 1st leg. referencing marc bartra and Dortmund when their bus was attacked, that bangers etc should be thrown under the bus to really get at the citeh players. "Trust me, City might have been to anfield many times but 'never' on a European night. remember marc bartra getting hurt on the Dortmund bus? bangers will be thrown under the city coach which will sound like a bomb. faces at their windows, banging on the coach while the coach can't move because it's completely surrounded so nowhere to go, bricks thrown at windows...sends fear into every player & coaches fear for security. Liverpool is a very different place on a European night. I do fear any city fans making their own way to the ground without police escorts. if they're in the mindset of 'I've been there many times' as the streets of anfield are dangerous (especially with it being mancs) on European nights. it's completely different to a PL game" " What? pool v city in CL. 5 times winners v 1 time semi finalists. bring you flares and flags. banners and bangers. pints and pyro. there will be thousands of scouse voices ready to scare em back to mancland with their tails between their legs before the match even starts. We're going to show them exactly what money can't buy." |

Lots of talk of this on social media from Liverpool fans and ex players like John Aldridge chirping up with the usual sh*te. Lets hope City continue to let Liverpool do all the talking. |

Passionate fan urging fellow fans to get behind their team in the biggest game they've had in years. This is a complete non story. |

Fair play to the press and City fans for jumping on this - 100% guaranteeing this will be one of the loudest nights at Anfield in years.

Its pretty obvious is it not, that the media are jumping on the fact that they're trying to whip up a crowd to behave in a manner similar to a recent event when a player was injured in a bus being bombed, and to throw bricks at the windows. But sure, lets not let the truth get in the way of it. City fans fault for "jumping on it"

haven't doubted the passion involved, no doubt about it that the atmosphere will be fantastic. there's a line to it though, referencing replicating an event where a bomb was used was probably not the wisest move, and definitely crosses that line

I dont think he will rest any players for those games. He will obv use the squad but he will be looking to win each game. Teams that constantly win never complain of being tired.

United certainly did in their glory years (with some justification) given they were involved in the latter stages of various cup competitions. City have the squad/resources to get good results from all those games so I would expect them to do well given the pressure is off regarding the league games. I think if City get a poor result (poor record anyway at Anfield) in the first leg, they could be in bother in the return (Hope City win all the same) |

I always find it strange that teams of rival clubs care who wins these sort of ties. The way Man City have totally dismantled the Premiership this season has it very much looking they will dominate English football for the next few years at least. Liverpool winning would be more beneficial for the English game because they've already shown how to beat Man City, knock them out of the QF's and it will give the likes of Chelsea/Spurs/United etc heart that they can topple City next season. Just my opinion of course.

It’s the toughest draw city could have got IMO. The way Liverpool play will be troublesome to Citys tactics, and throw in the fact that Anfield is their least favourite away ground, and I give Liverpool a big chance.
I’ve a feeling it’ll go right to the wire this one, right to the last few minutes of the second leg. The game that Liverpool won earlier in the season Stones and Ederson had nightmares. Silva didn’t play that day and Aguero never got a sniff. Sterling has never played well against Liverpool. I’d consider not playing him at Anfield. Hopefully Kompany and Otamendi are on their game. |

If I was a City fan, I'd have the same concerns. City have at least scored goals at Anfield in their recent defeats and a 3-2/2-1 loss wouldn't be a bad result to take back home. Even if they do well in the first leg, I think Liverpool will need to score away if they have any hope of getting through.

Agree - you can see City dominating for the next 10 years.
They look set to win the league next year but very few teams win 3 in a row. No team has ever won 4 in a row. Who do you think will be the next team to win the prem? Its so hard to call. IMO it would be 1Chelsea 2Liverpool 3 Man U |
