Quite the opposite of a decline i would say.

It was just another excuse to bump a thread he created...

Not really I thought today's 2 surprise results were relevant to this thread and as you can see with the above comments it got some debate around them.

Your really need to move on.

I would say two 0-0 draws today would have indicated the Decline of the Premier League. Or indeed 2 3-0 wins for United/Liverpool

Not even the most competitive league in England! There's plenty more competitive elsewhere too. I think Romania have had five or six first time champions in the past decade. I think Sweden has 6 or 7 winners in the past decade. I think Iceland too. Plenty more.

I assume it is the best league, but it is logical that there's many more competitive leagues.

Not sure you can usefully compare Romania/Sweden/Iceland etc.

For comparably sized leagues/countries:

France - PSG have been Champions in 7 of the last 8 seasons (runner-up the other one);

Spain - Barca (6) and R.Madrid (3) have won 9 of the last 10 titles, making 60 titles between them;

Germany - Bayern have won the last 8 in a row, making 30 in total;

Italy - Juve have won the last 9 in a row, making 36 in total.

Meanwhile, the English Premier League has had 5 different winners in the last 10 years, with only one team retaining the title and then only for one season.

And despite this diffusion/distribution of quality they've still been fairly competitive in Europe; whereas it must be easier to concentrate your efforts on Europe if most of your domestic games are a doddle and you've your own league won by March.

Agree, Bayern are the team to beat again.

Man United have beaten last years finalists away, and hammered the semi finalists so far this season, and United are are about the 6th best team in England at present

Maybe not - Bayern must still be strong favourites.

As against that, there is clear evidence that the Spanish giants - Real , Barca and even Atletico - are struggling to keep pace with the rest of the continent, so that could be three fewer potential winners to worry about.

And maybe, just, maybe Dortmund and Leipzig are a little bit off the pace, too, while Juve didn't do too well against Barca on Tuesday.

What could count against PL clubs, however, is the insane fixture congestion they're having to face. It HAS to hinder at least some of them come February or March.

Bayern are the best team in Europe, no doubt, but you'd have to say of the chasing pack at the minute the EPL has the greatest strength in depth.

Yawn all you like, but he's not wrong.

After years of being the wealthiest league in the world, the PL finally started using its wealth properly to overtake Italy, Germany and (eventually) Spain to be the best on the field.

And with Covid ravaging football everywhere, the PL is best placed by far to be "Last Man Standing".

Last seasons results in Europe suggest otherwise! Best league in the World now they have won a few games in the Champions League group stage LOL

The Spurs result last night not hamper the “best league in the world”?
