How come he never got another job after Villa?  Did a great job at Leeds and did ok at Villa from memory and then that was it.

He seems to have taken blame for Leeds finances when surely it was Peter RidsdaleConfused

Champions League Semis is some acievement for The LEEDS UNITED AFC PLC.

He had a stint in the UAE where he added to his managerial failure record. A bit of a creeping Jesus about that guy, and a Tory supporter as well.

He spent a few years after UAE job fighting for compensation he was entitled to which he eventually won.

Always one I agree you would have thought was a future Ireland manager

He was very conscious of the perception that he was a "cheque book manager" at Leeds. He hoped to change that at Villa. He didn't and was intensely disliked by the fans. I also recall him dismissing Kerr's sucesses with our youth teams as just "tin-cup" victories. It was not surprising that he was not in demand after Villa. We just dont produce managers in the South for some reason.

The "ara it'll be grand too nice" attitude isn't conducive to producing good managers, among other things.

Might be way off but always got the impression he wasn't much liked in the football world, it's a relatively small world

He definitely wasn't highly regarded as a manager by his peers.

Presume he was just fed up with management and walked away. Defof thought at one stage he'd have been Irelamd manager one day. I wonder he he ever actually throw his name into the ring at any time

Cascarino more or less said that in his book, can't remember the exact words but along the lines that his regard for himself as a player was not the reality and his arrogance made him unpopular.

Wouldn’t believe one word that comes out of Cascarinos mouth.  I know which one is a decent man who hasn’t cheated on his wife etc etc.

Why would you trust Cascariono’s judgement of O Leary.  Are you not judging O’Leary yourself.  Double standards.  Cascarino is hardly a reliable character witness.

Not judging OLeary,  or Cascarino for that matter. O Leary was a fine player who got shafted by the great Jack Charlton on a very tenuous justification.

You seem to be suggesting that he was arrogant and not liked within the game based on good old Tony’s opinion.
