Looks like Arsenal will get mid 70's points which is prob their average for the last 10 years. They have done the same as normal only this year it's not good enough for top 4.

On the face of it, yes, it's "same as normal".

But if you look at their results against the other Top Six teams, they're slipping from previous seasons:

AFC 2 MU 0
Spurs 2 AFC 0
AFC 2 MC 2
LFC 3 AFC 1
Chels 3 AFC 1
MC 2 AFC 1
MU 1 AFC 1
AFC 1 Spurs 1
AFC 3 Chels 0
AFC 3 LFC 4
Played 10, Won 2, Drew 3, Lost 5 = 9 points from 30.

And those two wins were at home to a MU team last week who didn't give a stuff, and at home to a Chelsea team in September, which was the catatlyst for Conte to perform radical surgery on his new team.

Of course, they're still good enough to knock over the rest, hence the 70+ points, but there's an obvious gap between the top teams and the rest anyhow.

So that unless they can arrest the slide - and soon - they're liable to look more like eg Everton or Soton than Chelsea or Spurs.

They have been pretty poor for the last few years, especially away from home.

Arsenal's away record against the top-6 in the Premier League since 2012/13:

WDLLLLLLWLLDWLDLDLDDL

Wins: 3
Goals: 26
Conceded: 47

I don't think it's that absurd but Arsenal really need to be identifying their list of next managers.

I reckon that if they had nabbed 4th place then he may well have stepped aside. the fact that arsenal have to compete with FIVE other teams who can offer champs league football makes it a daunting summer for them. and I don't think he could let the reigns go with this current scenario, that he sees himself as the only person capable of bringing them back to CL

It'll be interesting to see who Arsenal go for over the summer but amazing what a cup win can do, especially when they beat both City and Chelsea who were the two hardest possible teams to beat.

There's no doubt the players downed tools for Wenger at times and I wonder if they felt it'll be his swansong so have a strong league finish and possible cup win and he goes out in style. Despite their public utterances of support for their manager, It's a huge gamble giving Wenger an extension.

The fans will be happy as long as they're at least competitive in the league next year with the Europa where they'll have the same dilemma as United when it comes to which competition to prioritize.

I think Arsenal will still want to make sure they're in it past the group stage unless they're doing very well in the league.

Looking forward to seeing how Arsenal get on next year.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

everton will get more money than 100m to spend this summer. the fact that arsenal can now not offer CL football, that 100m will go very quickly if wenger is trying to convince top quality to join

Wenger will do what he usually does with Money,  spend a lump of it on a marquee signing then rest on 18 years old lads who had a good season in Ligue 2 or Belgian League.

I'd even suggest the marquee singing won't happen or it will be a disappointing marquee signing just like when he brought in Sebastian Squillaci

Squillaci LOL Love Wenger, but that name alone should be a reason for Arsenal to have moved on.

That's three very decent players (or two top ones).

Arsenal need more than that if they are to compete properly.

Of course, they might raise an additional big sum if they sell Sanchez and/or Ozil. But obviously there's no guarantee that their replacements will measure up (esp for Sanchez).

As a Spurs fan, I find this very amusing. Kronke is obviously continuing to get away with the absolute minimum* he needs to stump up.

And Wenger continues to delude himself that he doesn't need to spend big to be competitive.

* - £100m sounds a whole lot better than, say £90m or £95m. Yet such a figure would be widely derided if offered, despite being hardly much less. It kinda reminds me of when Kronke/Wenger thought they'd land Luis Suarez from Liverpool by offering £40,000,001 LOL

Monaco have rejected an £87m bid from Arsenal for Mbappe.
