Bumped for 'The Brick'.

Funny how your tastes change a little, but if I had to pick my ten right now it would be:

1) The Holy Bible- The Manics
2)The Housemartins- London 0 Hull 4
3) The Pixies- Doolittle
4) London Calling- The Clash
5) Born in the USA- Bruce Springsteen
6) Pulp - Different Class
7) The Cribs- Ignore the Ignorant
8) Johnny Marr- Playland (live)(is a live album allowed?)*
9)Kate Bush- The Hounds of Love
10) Blur- Modern Life is Rubbish

Will have changed by the time I stick 'Blue Lines' or 'Perverted by Language' on in the minute. And anybody that doesn't include 'Pet Sounds' in their top ten is a ****.

*Actually called 'Adrenalin Baby', from the 'Playland' tour.

My top ten. In no order. Tricky job!

Paul Simon - Graceland
Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman
Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan
Dire straits - Dire Straits
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Tom Waits - Used Songs
Alamis Morisette -Jagged Little Pill
Pogues - If I should fall from Grace with God
The Police - Regatta la Blanc
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

LOL

Whats wrong with Morrisette's album?
Edgy album for a girl and critically accliamed by many. Strong melodies, decent lyrics, good singer and sold by the truckload. Am I missing something? When it came out I played it to death.
Ps. Your guitar heavy list is not to my liking, but each to their own

Nothing wrong with it, if you are a teenage girl on the rag who got cheated on by the star quarter back.

Dud a similar list the other day of albums that influenced my taste in music.  Slightly different ground rules but an overlap of4 in the top 10 and another 3 in honourable mentions

Great to see the cribs mentioned. Criminally underrated band! Think you have blurs best in there! As great as the list is I'd probably include none of them!

I did it in five minutes! I could write a different one again now and only top spot is 100% safe.

Could write a 100 honourable mentions, but to give a few that could, or should be in there, that weren't mentioned:

The Moseley Shoals
Daydream Nation
The Queen is Dead
Inflammable Material
Downward Spiral
Horses
Unknown Pleasures
Power, Corruption and Lies
All Mod Cons
Siamese Dream
Dogrel
() or Brackets
Automatic for the People
Talking to the Taxman about Poetry
Tales from the City...
30 Something
It Takes a nation of Millions
Rum, Sodomy and the Lash
Portishead Third
Black Market Music
Actually
Harvest Moon

On a different day, when I have been listening to something different, all of these could get mentioned. It is easier to do without thinking too much about it!

Could only name an artist once.

The Soft Bulletin, Deserter's Songs, Heartworm, Troublegum and the Sophtware Slump were completely forgotten above.
It is a very hard thing to do.
