Was there no way Siobhan Haughey could have represented Ireland?

In saying that, just seen her on HK TV news, she speaks impressive Cantonese.

Be weird if she didn't given her mother is from there, and she was born and bred there!

Anyone who is named Siobhan should only ever represent Ireland. That shud be the law.

Very composed performance. Great to see an Irish team revel in favouritism.

Quality, looked tight enough to these amateur eyes for a good while but seems to be that they always had it won. Germans celebrating silver seems to suggest that was the case.

Only our 7th ever gold, excluding Michelle, I believe, unbelievable.

The year delay  hasn't helped her.... almost a certain gold medal for Ireland last year but could do well to make the final here.
After the high comes a major disappointment but not totally unsurprising as i said last week. Have to feel for her as unbeatable last year.

I don't follow the sport. But it seems that Fintan McCarthy has been outperforming Gary, who was in reserve for the team.

Its a shame the reserves don't get their shine like subs in football, because I'm sure he has put in a helleva lot of effort to push both rowers for their place in the team.

Annalise Murphy second today in her laser race - moves up to 14th with 10 to qualify for the final.

Puspure was expected to medal here but comes 5th.

was thinking the same. the schedule is chronic...ratings must be pretty low this side of the planet.

I remember getting up at 6.45am to watch The EIRE v Cameroon in 2002Dead

I heard Paul speak about this. I and prob most people assumed they were rowing together cause they were brothers. This wasn't the case though. They were rowing together cause they were the 2 fastest who just happen to be brothers. They have an open competition it seems and the 2 fastest guys get the spot in the boat. Fantastic achievement for them. Great to see any Irish person take on the best and beat them all. ClapClap
