Very composed performance. Great to see an Irish team revel in favouritism.

Quality, looked tight enough to these amateur eyes for a good while but seems to be that they always had it won. Germans celebrating silver seems to suggest that was the case.
Only our 7th ever gold, excluding Michelle, I believe, unbelievable.

I don't follow the sport. But it seems that Fintan McCarthy has been outperforming Gary, who was in reserve for the team. Its a shame the reserves don't get their shine like subs in football, because I'm sure he has put in a helleva lot of effort to push both rowers for their place in the team.

I heard Paul speak about this. I and prob most people assumed they were rowing together cause they were brothers. This wasn't the case though. They were rowing together cause they were the 2 fastest who just happen to be brothers. They have an open competition it seems and the 2 fastest guys get the spot in the boat. Fantastic achievement for them. Great to see any Irish person take on the best and beat them all.
