What my Hearts mate said about Simms.

Mobile (relatively) quick good finisher although not a 'poacher)decent in air ( but not a 'target man' )
Lots of similarities to Stewart
I (& HOMFC) would take him back tomorrow but couldn't afford wages / transfer fee - if yous could get him for 500k he's a cracking buy

Simms would be a very good signing for them

Impressed last season every time I seen him

He's signed for Sunderland on a season long loan.

Good to see that former Belvedere Boys club player and also a former Sunderland Academy winger Finbarr Lynch has today been promoted within Sunderland Academy's coaching staff.

That's great to see Dm, Must admit I've not really heard of him before now, An Irish lad who didn't make the grade with us as a player but is now achieving a good career as a coach, Fair play to him, Good news that we announced Simms today, Really looking forward to the Coventry game I do think we could still do with 1 or 2 new players in before the window closes

Alex Neil said on a radio phone in last night that he wants another four players which I'd be happy with.
He came over very well on the radio as always.

Looks like Sunderland will get a 40,000 crowd on Sunday which is pretty good with it being live on TV an early kick off and the current transport problems.

Re Finbarr there's an old Irish Times article about him and other young Sunderland Irish players from that era I'll see if I can dig it out.

As frustrating as the late goal was a draw was probably a fair result

Best news of the day Alex Neil has signed an extended contract.

His job will be to keep them up. He won’t have a huge budget to work with and he needs to get more players in. The crowds for the home games will be a great asset. 40,851 at the Coventry game-next highest in the league was 26,567 at Middlesbrough, which was likewise shown live on Sky.

Suggestion that Sunderland might be keen on McCarthy

Can't see this until January at the earliest, he'll be needed for Celtics 'home grown quota' squad for Europe

The current recruitment plan at Sunderland is mainly buying younger players so I'd be surprised if this happens.

Jimmy hasn’t many miles on the clock though.
