Only seeing now that Lee Johnson is managing Sunderland now. That looks like a very good move. I expect him to turn things around. Might take him till next season.

Might take longer with fourteen players from the first team squad out of contract at the end of the season and the constraints of the salary cap. They really have to get up this season and that's going to be tough.

It is concerning that amount of players out of contract at the same time.

Sunderland were disappointing tonight the final ball was lacking far too much.

Carl Winchester has signed a two and a half year deal for Sunderland.

Hopefully McGeady and O'Brien will be in the starting line up against Wimbledon on Saturday?

You sound hopeful and unsure of yourself at the same time.

If you mean the question mark that's more directed at whether the manager Lee Johnson decides to put both players in the starting line up.

Conor McLoughlin looks like being out for a while as he requires surgery for a groin injury.

Its a hernia problem according to the local press which he's been troubled with for some weeks.

Lee Johnson said on the local phone in this evening that he's not worried about the right back situation with 4/5 options.

He seems a lot more concerned about the left back options with Denver Hume having a setback with his return from injury.

Latest prediction from FiveThirtyEight has the Mackems 44% to make the Play-Offs, 34% to get Promoted and 9% to win the Division:

(I've backed Pompey in my divisional e.w. accumulator)

Those odds look realistic at the moment though teams winning a few in a row can upset the apple cart very quickly. A lot of the possible contenders are much of a muchness and a run of form at the right time in a very competitive league like this one can make the difference. Sunderland do need some extra quality.

Certainly if Johnson can sign 2/3 quality players in the transfer window it's realistic for Sunderland to push for a top two place.
