Could have been an Irish legend. Pity was a very talented player.

Word around Cobh is that he's been released. So much for Lambert giving every one an equal chance and having no issue with Stephen.

I'm not sure it matters but saw this headline in the Irish Mirror -

Borussia Mönchengladbach leading the chase for former Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ireland.

Only 31, Wes was in or around that age (if not older) when he finally played for us. If he got his sh*t together could still offer us something.

as I've gotten older my ire for Stephen has subsided. I feel that he had serious issues and wasnt in the right environment to tackle them. Would be surprised if he gets back to a decent level again though

Hope he doesn't try spelling it.

I agree, also think he was really one that got away from us, think he would have been a massive player for us had he not exiled himself

Wonder where he'd have fit himself into Trap's teams

Beside Wes Hoolahan on the subs' bench, I would have thought... Disapprove

Would love if Stephen Kenny was asked about his potential return. LOL

Is he even playing football anymore?

New excuse now ? Once it was the dead grannies, then the wife's miscarriage, now it's time with the kids? Has he ever said a word about the Hunt brothers ? You wonder what planet this bozo has beamed down from. Hard to forget his ' will he, won't he ' teasing in the style of Rice and Grealish when he was a decent player and Ireland managers were trying to get him back on board. Well and truly finished now but no wiser.

Liam Brady wants to make a return.  Says he has unfinished business with the EIRE and wants to play in a major finals that Jack cruelly left him out of 88 and 90.
