came across this complete crazy comment form South Africas sports minister...

Blues to secure Pienaar

The South African has had a fine season so far on Merseyside, contributing to some excellent football from Everton.

A transfer fee was negotiated prior to Pienaar's loan move from Borussia Dortmund, believed to be around £2 million, a snip in the current transfer climate.

Local newspaper the Liverpool Echo have confirmed Everton are in advanced talks with Pienaar's representatives and the player's permanent transfer is expected to be announced in time for Saturday's visit of West Ham.

Meanwhile, Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has slammed South Africa's latest plans for the 2010 World Cup which involves senior South African footballers not being allowed to play for their club team for two years in preparation for the tournament.

'We'll contract the players and tell the coach 'here, work with them',' said South African Sports Minister, Makhenkesi Stofile.

'They won't play for their clubs for two years and will be preparing only for the World Cup soccer tournament.

'We have to prevent them from embarrassing us.'

Wyness' reply was emphatic; 'While we sympathise with the sentiment behind the idea, it is entirely unworkable and shows a complete lack of understanding for how the football world works,' he told the Daily Express.
