Ian Durrant

For him to come back from this sickening assault by Aberdeen's Neil Simpson and have the career he did is a credit to him

He's also a cousin of three times world darts champion Glen "Duzza" Durrant

A superb sporting family

Alec McLeish put my football team up in his Edinburgh hotel back in the day. We played Hibs youth side on the Saturday, where he was first team manager at the time. Then we went on the lash and played Hearts on the Sunday. Two high scoring draws. McLeish came to speak to us after the Hibs game and he was sound. I met him in Lansdowne road years later. I approached him in a jocular over familiar way (as I was gargled) and he didn't make a show of me which was quite gracious of him.

McCoist is one of the few colour commentators I have heard in recent years who is capable of the task. He has a certain charm to his humour and he doesn't try too hard and he seems to grasp football's rightful place in the list of priorities.

He is also one of the few Rangers and ex Rangers players who love the Scottish national team.
