Sour grapes from Selby in his interview, as sour as Roberto Baggio

"He was disrespectful, he was disrespectful to me and disrespectful to the game of snooker"

This is great

This is what sport is about

Fight fight fight

What a tournament this has been

Snooker is BOX OFFICE again

Yes

His demeanour was cool as a cucumber, he was like a Dutch person confidently and matter of factly complaining about rude table service at a restaurant or something

But his words were sourer than something very sour

Ronnie was asked in the eurosport interview about disrespecting the game by lashing some of the shots. He said that he didn't want to spend 10 minutes trying to hit a ball out of that he was snookered on and that he'd rather get on with the game.
Let Christy Take It.

Yeah I just watched his Eurosport interview back there, he was referring to all those points McGill conceded in fouls on the one snooker in the final frame of the other semi

Wilson got 46 points in a row from fouls (which must be close to a record), I think it was 34 or 38 just from that one snooker

I don't really buy Ronnie's excuse, he just has a very low boredom threshold for that sort of stuff, but that's why we love him

The mad thing about that match was that Selby had completely broken Ronnie mentally and at 16-14 I wouldn't have given a prayer for Ronnie's chances

He just threw the kitchen sink at it and it somehow worked, though he suddenly realised what he was about to do and tightened up and missed that red at 64-0 up in that last frame

I thought Selby was going to clear the lot like John Higgins did in an identical situation in the deciding frame of the Masters final back in '06 when Ronnie missed the match ball

I'm totally serious when I say that today is the best sporting action we'll see all year, and the last few frames of tonight was just thrilling and really emotionally engrossing too because I wanted Ronnie to win so much, I think pretty much everybody did, because they know he can't have long left at the top

The standard in that final frame of the Wilson-McGill match was comically bad at times but the drama was unrelenting

Then tonight was glorious in every way

Selby v O'Sullivan is such a great rivalry because they're so different

Selby was melting Ronnies brain at 16-14. Does he have to take an hour deciding over every shot. I think he was doing it deliberately to make him crack. He did crack him but somehow it went against him. There was one point where Ronnie missed the pink trying to hit it thin and Selby who had no intention of playing the shot made him take it again after about 2 mins deliberating. Thank God Ronnie got through. Delighted.

What makes it a brilliant sport, Selby has every right to play the way he does cause he is a brilliant player at every aspect of the game, he had Ronnie  on the ropes the last two sessions and Ronnie  , well what can you say, the 138, even that 64 last frame , it was Selby that cracked in the end

Both going down to the last frame.
The winner in both had to come from behind to do so.

Brilliant day.

Now hope Ronnie goes out and win.

Ronnie on course to win his 7th UK championship.
He currently shares the record (6) with Steve Davies. He won it 25 years ago as a 17 year old.

The triple crown of Snooker has:

S Hendry - 18
7 world titles (record)
6 Masters
5 UK championships

R Sullivan- 19
5 world titles
7 masters (record)
7 UK championships (record)

Steve Davies - 15
6 world titles
3 Masters
6 Uk championships

Nobody else has more than 9.
I hope he wins another world title.
Updated:

Hendry and Davies were both brilliant in their prime but for me Ronnie is a level above.

Hope he wins his 6th World title and that gives him the motivation to go for the record.
