Scarlett Johannson in a green dress would do it for me. ' The Green Cockade ' , on the other hand,is a novel about the 1798 rebellion written long ago by the late Margaret T. Pender. Also a well known and unrelated folk song ( very good version of it in an American bar by a lass called Greta, available on You Tube ).

I always was under the impression that the ‘Green Cockade’ was about the Irishmen who fought in the French Revolution and wore a green ribbon or ‘cockade’.
I have never heard of Pender, but I haven’t always got on with fiction based on fact.

If it's confirmed that it's before, then Mick won't be managing team into playoff. UEFA meeting this week which should clarify schedule.

I always felt that if June playoff didn't go ahead then Kenny comes in as scheduled.

Feel sorry for Mick, but he can hardly feel too bitter. Missing out on a playoff that he never earned and a play off that was guaranteed before he even stepped into the job.
And he never made any real attempt to use that safety net (which, as you said, he didn't even achieve himself) to build from and try and upgrade to automatic qualification but instead kept playing the same old faithfuls like Messrs Whelan, Hendrick etc. The only time we actually played anything resembling football was in those friendly matches v NZ & Bulgaria.

Very disappointing reign this time from him.  Unhappy

So we played something "resembling football" against Bulgaria and NZ? I've seen more competitive games in local parks with jumpers for goalposts.
Yeah, the opposition in both games were muck but when you look at the way we played in the qualifying matches, everything is relative, I suppose. LOL
The nation holds it's breath...YES, WE'RE THERE!!!

Been confirmed to not be happening in June.

Could that mean Kenny will be put in place now?

from rte.ie
  •  "...The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Slovakia has been postponed again, "until further notice".

Last month UEFA pushed back the European Championships from this summer to 2021 with the play-offs, which had originally been fixed for late March, pencilled in for the start of June.

All UEFA club and international football was initially suspended until the end of March but as the Covid-19 pandemic escalated, plans have been drastically revised.

Following a videoconference meeting with the general secretaries of all 55 UEFA member associations today and recommendations made by the working groups created on St Patrick's Day, UEFA said in a statement: "All national team matches for men and women due to be played in June 2020 are postponed until further notice. This includes the play-off matches for UEFA Euro 2020 and qualifying matches for UEFA Women's Euro 2021."

It now depends on whether club or international football is prioritised. With the tournament postponed for over a year, I’d be surprised if this is played until later in the year. I think the awkward situation discussed is almost guaranteed to come to pass.

Postponement of the Olympics seems the only other example here... I can see the tournament being moved one year... considering that UEFA will want people to attend in huge numbers and with gatherings of the such seemingly off the table this year as it stands.

That being the case I can see no reason that Mick will/should stay on even if he wants to. Ok he could be inconvenienced because of the virus but so are millions of people in far worse positions.

FAI will have to make a decision now, and unfortunately for Mick, I think he'll be making way for Kenny.

UEFA have given no dates for rearranged game. Could be March next year for all we know. UEFA have such a scheduling headache that FAI can hardly kick the can down the road in the hope that dates suit their situation.

A lot depends when it's refixed for. I wouldn't want it to be Kenny's first games.

But if the Nations League is played first and the play off is in November or next March I'd be inclined to give it to Kenny.

Equally wouldn't want it to be his first game(s) but with 2-3 training sessions he would be going in with zero expectations. Let's be honest, there's not many who are giving Mick a chance, so I don't see this in any way impacting people's view of Kenny if we're to crash and burn.

There’s not a hope the NL will be played now.

TV deals already in place for it. I'd imagine they'll attempt to do it. World Cup qualification isn't as urgent given the tournament doesn't start until November 2022.

Is Micks contract up end of July? If so he won't have a leg to stand on, for right or wrong... Personally wouldn't be against just giving the job to Kenny then, don't think Mick has done a decent job this time round and the playoff not earned. With the cheque he's supposedly gonna get, I'm sure he won't kick up much of a fuss.

I can’t see how. I can’t see football being played before September, at best. I think it will be another few weeks before we can even begin to estimate. I still think this season will be finished too. There’s no way it can be played, regardless of any television deal.

Why not? I also believe the season will be finished and I think the solution will be working towards the calendar towards the winter World Cup. No friendlies and there's clearly enough dates for Nations League.
