How can people keep giving those ****s money? The most charmless ****s to ever make music, even if they have made a few fine albums. Ullrich makes Bono seem like a good guy.

I think so. Especially if the entire bill is good.

First, Slane always has its stalwarts who would appear no matter who the artist is. Second, you have a big metal community in Ireland. Third an extensive bill with good support acts will interest those who may not be devotees of Metallica. And finally it is the first time in a decade they will have visited Ireland. Between 2003-2009 Metallica played Ireland about 5 times, which was almost as many times as they played Ireland between Master of Puppets and Garage Inc. over the last decade a new set of fans will have sprung up and will want to see them.

You have to have some sort of conscience about it though? I guess that's why people keep buying Apple and the like too.

But why would you not have a conscience if you go and see Metallica?

Think they would need a few good support acts to sell it out. Know it's 10 years since they been here last but if memory serves me right they didn't sell out Marley park then which is smaller than slane

That’s fine. But that’s a personal ethic and not an all encompassing reason that somebody lacks conscience.

Nobody has sold out Slane for years, GnR, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi etc. The breakeven point is quite small tho so it's a good day out even if ya get 30-40k. And it looks a lot better than 30-40k in Aviva or Croker. Better for the traffic too.
