I am posting here as opposed to in the other section as it isn't strictly relating to players who will be representing us.

My question is, if you could sign/select three players of any nationality (capped/uncapped or eligible/ineligible) for the national team that would improve/compliment the existing team who would they be?

And why?

Personally,I think our goalkeepers while not world beaters as adequate so I would stick to outfield players.

In midfield I think we are crying out for someone experienced to dictate the pace of a game. I would choose Xavi Alonso here.

I also think we are in need of a big prolific target man and someone like Diego Costa would be great.

I would then be torn between a CB or LB. I think I would go with a CB given that this is generally a more influential position. Wilson could be moved to LB and I would have Vincent Kompany as CB.

I had forgotten about Fabregas, probably equally as effective as Alonso but younger.

I'm going to for lads who could actually play for us, yet for various reasons haven't.

In centre back i think we've enough of experience to get us  through most games, was considering Curtis Davies but i've went for Kyle Naughton for left back. Although i believe Miley will be playing there anyway in games to come.

CM- Mark Noble - Experienced, calm collected, would be an excellent partner for McCarthy.

ST- Harry Kane or Wickham a big target man who can actually do something.

While all of the above would overall improve our squad and be in the first team none of them would possibly take us to the next level in the same way 2 or 3 players from top clubs would.

Having said that how great would it be to have either Kane or Wickham in the squad.

LOL Have you seen Kyle Naughton play? He's one of the worst players in the division!

I know this is hypothetically speaking but I wouldn't be picking CR7 who will be 30 next year.

I would go for young players who would be available for Ireland for the next 10 years.

Paul Pogba
Hazard or Bale
James Rodriguez or Neymar

How about quasi-realistic signings to make it a bit tougher;

Cesar Azpilicueta (think that's how it's spelt); only 10 appearances for Spain, many out of position, fixes a trouble position for Ireland.

David De Gea (Loan) Third choice keeper for Spain seen as one for the future by La Roja signs on loan for a campaign.

Saido Berahino sign from England and quickly declares that he's sure his great-grandfather came from Carlow.
Aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile.
