Livescore guess the line up and only update it when the official lineup is announced. |

Nope.
But since his last goal he has had: 12 starts for club and county 6 full games 6 starts where he played over 80 minutes before being substituted 1 more game where he played almost an hour, coming on after 31 minutes 13 games where he played less than half an hour and only 6 games where he played less than 15 minutes (excluding injury time) For a total of 1,339 minutes. Which is equivalent to almost 15 full games. That's a long time to go without a goal. It's not just a few minutes here and there; he's had a load of long games. I do think if he's fit, and given our direct style, I wouldn't be against him starting but if we plan to keep it on the floor at all then Murphy has to start but he'll need the attacking midfield 3 to support him.
Long can get in behind the defence, push us up the field pressuring the defence and chase lost causes. Murphy can't do that. If it's likely we're going to be under sustained pressure in Copenhagen, I could see if O'Neill wants to start Long. I assume he'll go with Murphy anyway. The fact he plays for Southampton more often than not would suggest they don't believe he's been "appalling", nor does it suggest they'd be willing to part with him. The shift he put in against Man City epitomises why he has played so regularly despite struggling in front of goal, he ran himself into the ground to facilitate the rest of the team. He's not scoring, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been playing well.

I think Darron Randolph, James McCarthy and Declan Rice might retire too, to concentrate on their club career. He is also unlikely to leave, certainly not permanently, as he is getting silly money that nobody else will give him. But, and this is a big but, if he did want to leave, international football probably gives him a better chance to show potential suitors what he can do than club football as he is likely to remain important for Ireland, despite his club form.
