EPL clubs are split in a £1billion conflict over TV money, the biggest threat to the top flight's unity since its formation.

Three other clubs Everton Leicester and West Ham have joined the big six Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in accepting his proposal that 35 per cent of overseas cash would be allocated according to where a club finishes in the table. Currently all the foreign money is shared equally between the 20 clubs.

Frankly, I've never understood why it wasn't *all* split according to the same formula.

Overseas money used to be pennies; now it's absolutely huge, there's merit in renegotiation. It's a far bigger percentage than it used to be.

The TV deals only last three years. The agreements on how the money is split should be the same.

English Premier League clubs have rejected an initial proposal to end the equal distribution of overseas TV money.

The six richest clubs - Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea - want their appeal reflected in their income.

And a plan - presented by the league's executive chairman Richard Scudamore - suggested 35% of global revenue should be divided based on league position.

But at a meeting on Wednesday, no vote was taken due to a lack of support.

"Clubs agreed to adjourn to allow further discussion," a statement read.

They need a 2/3 majority vote.

Why would the smaller teams vote away millions of pounds.

National TV money gets distributed something like
33% share to every team
33% to teams on TV
33% based on league position

But overseas TV monies get shared evenly between all clubs.
